Does a win over UM get us in?

CBS has us now as last four out and UM as last four in. Wonder if a win over UM is enough to get us in? Would UM drop out? Lunardi has us as first four out.

Tough to say until the mid-major conference tournaments are over. A win versus Michigan could very well put IU in the field only to be bump by a bid stealer.

Loyola beating Drake and Murray State beating Morehead was a start. San Francisco beating BYU to effectively end their season helps. Need Davidson to win the A-10, VCU and Dayton are on the bubble but likely need to win the A-10 to be assured a bid.

It depends on what happens this week in other conferences, but I think a W should get us in.

We don't want to see a non tourney team win a conference tourney, that's for sure. And I bet we're playing on Tuesday night play in game, if at all.

First off Lunardi is not a god I heard his track record stinks but yet everyone continues to quote him like he knows all. No I do not think it gets us in unless everything else goes our way in the other conference tournaments. It will likely take two wins but we put ourselves in this situation and it will be very steep hill to climb.

I mean we finished 9-11 and in ninth place I am thinking several wins are needed and luck in other tournaments.

First off, Lunardi doesn't work for CBS so the person you responded too wasn't quoting Lunardi or acting like he knows everything and lastly you are without a doubt the biggest, most insufferable douchebag on this entire forum.

FWIW - CBS is Jerry Palm so two sources but pretty good interrater reliability--both having us first four out.

Not sure why you even responded if I bother you so much ignore me. It really is very simple for you and then you do not have to dish out your name calling and insults like a little teenager would.

You are pure class. I am sure your wife like your name calling and insults as well. Good role model!

Personally, I think a win vs UM merely makes it even possible we get in. To make it "likely" or at least 50% chance we get in, we would need to also beat Wisconsin. So I consider Wisconsin the minimum line and to lock us in, we would have to win on Saturday. That means we would need to make the B1G title game.

If we beat Wisconsin we would be B10 tourney champs and would automatically be invited to the field. Wisky losing and Illinois winning meant a shared B10 title with Illinois receiving the 1 seed and on our side of the bracket. Pretty tough break all things considered especially if IU is fortunate enough to beat Michigan.

It's fun and all to talk about IU's "chances" of making the field, but let's be real -- they're not beating Michigan. It's the worst matchup Woodson and Co. could have asked for. Plus, Illinois is waiting in the wings. Unfortunately, we'll be talking about NIT seeding at about 1:45 on Thursday afternoon...

I am told one win gets us in period.

2 wins are needed. If and that is a huge if we get by scUM by controlling Dickinson and miraculously making some 3s then for us to beat Illinois we have to have another stellar performance. TJD against Kofi and X with his shooting and playmaking have to have the games of their lives while the rest have solid games. Basically really tough odds at this point we are dancing.

He just makes shit up to exaggerate what people are saying when we don’t agree with his mostly insane takes.
You are one of them preaching one win my friend. Just stick with what you say is all.

Run you off did you not run yourself off? Why in the world would you even want to be on the water cooler anymore it is a joke anyway.

I didn’t say anything for certain my friend. But yes I think we get in with 1 win over Michigan.

But I thought nobody was saying one win gets us in? I thought i just made crap up.

Indiana does not control their own destiny, barring a BTT win. Even if they beat Michigan there are other teams/games that factor in.

If things happen more or less to plan I think a win over UM gets us in. If there are a couple of conference tourney upsets that result in multiple bids, then maybe no.

Yes it is my opinion that 1 win gets us in but never have I said that’s 100% certain. Still depends on a lot of things. I have never said “1 win gets us in period”. I think it does and I believe 2 wins would guarantee it no matter what else happens.

I agree. The problem is that most of the board is overestimating the likelihood that IND beats MICH.

Probably the worst matchup we could get unfortunately. Michigan will make us pay for defensively having two bigs who aren’t great perimeter defenders, and TJD/Race will struggle to score a ton on them.

I hope we pull it off though.

Lunardi is pretty much dead on every year on regards to who is in or out. He doesn't always get the seeding and location right... but pretty much bullets on who id in.

For the record, if IU beats Michigan, they are in. They'd be a First 4 team in Dayton which would sell tickets.

I'd agree they are generally in with a win against Michigan so long as there aren't any upsets in these one bid league conference tournaments.

Most of the bracketologists have Michigan as either last four in, or first four out. Most have us as first four out.

If we beat Michigan, we'd likely leap frog them. But in some Bracketologists minds, if others above IU don't lose, that might not be enough.

I'd say 1 win leaves us still very vulnerable to bid stealers from the other conference tournaments. There's always 1 or 2, at least, every year. If that happens again this year, I don't see a win over Michigan pushing us high enough to withstand a couple bid stealers.

I've been saying all week, you guys who have us penned into the NIT are very much premature. One win in the BTT seals a berth for IU. Depending on other games we might not even need that.

Some people say he is terrible so it is hard to know who to believe honestly on that.

Define terrible? Who are some people?

Does Lunardi get every pick right every year? Of course not, neither does anybody else. But what makes him terrible or to be discredited? IU is squarely on the bubble right now and needs to beat Michigan to keep their NCAAT hopes alive. I don't know why you feel the need to fight tooth and nails with everyone on this?
