Josh's mother has cancer. I do not know the immediate severity and don't care to pry on that but obviously, cancer is very serious. He is from a suburb of Omaha and his family still lives there. That is why Creighton was the immediate favorite to land his services. There were a LOT of rumors that Josh Dix did not want to play with Owen Freeman (another Iowa transfer) again and that Creighton would not be able to land them both. Freeman committed to Creighton and it was thought to be a battle between Illinois-IU and a return to Iowa. Committing to Creighton would have been expected a few days ago but it was a surprise for that to be the choice this morning. Best of luck to him and I hope being close to his mother is good for the whole family.
For IU, the search for roster additions carries on. Tucker DeVries-Conor Enright-Trent Sisley remains the extent of the rebuild as of this morning. That is perfectly fine and there is no need to panic yet. IU still has a whole lot to get accomplished (including still finalizing a staff) and things will need to pick up substantially over the next several days.
