Disrespect already for 25

Michigan's defense certainly made them look a lot better. I will say though up until the final 3 games, Sheronne Moore was on the hot seat. They beat NW by 50, then a great win at OSU, then they beat a hobbled Bama team with lots of people sitting out.

Well now their defense is going to have some major departures. I don't know if they'll be anywhere near as good as they were this year and although they have a good prospect at QB coming in, we know the odds of him performing great right away, isn't likely.

I say all of this because it's possible UM is actually worse next season than they were this year. I too expect them to be ranked higher and that makes sense but I also still have major questions for Sherrone Moore. He very well could answer them and they do great, I'm just skeptical.

A lot depends on that hotshot QB......they also have the #1 rated portal TB coming in, but overall not a great portal class.

One thing to consider.....how good that D looked against Bama with so many no shows for that game.

But the 'quick' take would be "oh, they were in the playoff this year, they lose a lot but I know they got a QB and some other guys, so I'll just stick them in at 23"

I think it's nuts that we aren't in some of these rankings. I've seen a few where we're in the teens. Feels about right to me.

I could see an argument that the IU team played so close to its potential that it will be very hard to replicate + not many injuries until Rourke + the schedule being favorable and teams like Michigan, UCLA, and Washington being "down".......but going from being the 3rd or 4th best team in the country before Rourke got hurt to not being in the top 25.......not seeing that when we return 3 AAs on D, didn't lose much in the portal, and helped ourselves in the portal.....more like 18th at worst.

It matters where IU is ranked to start the season because it impacts where they are ranked as the season goes on. Start out low and it is difficult to move up although not impossible.
