42% for the season. Was talking that talk too. Some young kid courtsied was talking to him getting him goin. He pumps himself up by talking. Loved seeing it. Told the kid he was gonna hit one more right in front of his man. Then BANG. Damn that side corner in the second half he was doin WORK. WHERE THE HATERS

Tamar keeps improving … and IU’s bench keeps getting deeper.

Who would have thought Trey and Tamar would lead IU in scoring on a night where TJD rings up a triple double.
(Especially last year).

I for one am not a hater but have been a bit disappointed how his career has started.
He was 1-7 at Rutgers and was great tonight.
Hope he can consistently play closer to how he did tonight as he is, as I’ve said before, a big key to raising the ceiling of the team.

What IU will need is to take some of this ‘home cooking’ on the road.

Start with the defense.

Like what I saw but just needs to stay aggressive and consistent the same can be said at about Geronimo he has been up and down.

Awesome to see. Stroke looked good last night. Would love to see it become consistent.. What’s up with X? Last two games combined he’s 4-19 from the field to go with 13 turnovers.

Not a hater, just need to see consistent play from him.

Guess he does need someone to almost heckle him to get him going, someone who he can focus on during game with an “I’ll show you” mentality …..somebody send freepee season tix to lower arena asap 😂😂

We don't. We need TJD and XJ to be themselves and then we need effort from everyone else and 2-3 to score. If we do that, we'll be fine, if not, we'll struggle. Not everyone is going to be "on" offensively every night, but everyone can defend and rebound and play smart. We've got enough depth to put whoever can't do that on the bench and play the guys who are.

If that's what he needs, then he needs to develop that in himself. MJ and Larry, and many greats, were masters at that. If that's what it takes, he needs to find those slights internally and come out ready to show whoever he feels has disrespected him!

100%. I am taking his dad to all the big games because that is what gets him going. His dad has told me so many times he plays way better mad, Im gonna piss him off.

Obviously this is a progression with Tamar. He has now shown he can do it at home. I have all the confidence in the world he can have that type of game last night against anyone in the country at home. His confidence is great in the Hall and he is comfortable. The next step is on the road. And that will happen this season. Ive seen him play well at neutral sites in the past, if he goes 2 in a row and we bring home a Dub in Vegas? This board will need to get its popcorn ready for my ass.

That is why I love him..... He has IT in him to be great. He is only 19!!!.... MJ didn't even have that at UNC yet.

I promise you it won't be consistent. News flash everyone, If he and X are consistent at their best we are the number 1 team in the country. This is college basketball. Caleb Love and RJ Davis aren't consistent, they are some of the best guards in the country. They're always ups and downs.

We dont have a unanimous #1 seed, those are the only teams that are pretty damn consistent, and that happens every few years. Again we dont have a once in a decade team. What we do have is a team that can win it all when hitting on all cylinders. That is all I can ask for. I am gonna enjoy this ride.

All good, but the problem is we never know when they're going to play that way, and especially when JHS comes back can they do that consistently with less minutes. Something good is happening because TJD had 10 assists! The problem is can they do that again with fewer minutes or in a role that can always change because of matchups. If they can, we will be very good by the end of the year

This team has the feel of that year when Charlie Miller was mostly a disappointing freshmen and Allen Henderson was I think a senior. They became dangerous around tournament time

TJD made this game flow. Hit all 4 guys with dimes. They were in perfect position too. I know they won’t all play like that every game but if just 2 give us that IU should be just fine.

yes, and but I think TJD also had 4 TO's, as he did @ Rutgers, and of course XJ had 6 and then 7 last night. Need them to cut down on TO's. Seems to me Rutgers and NB last night are doubling him and then collapsing on the passing lanes and trying to pick off his outlet passes. I know a 10:4 assist to TO ratio is supposed to be good, but I"d like to see them both with 3 or less. Of course I'm sure XJ's will go down with JHS returns, but he needs to adjust to when he's the primary ball-handler and when he's not. When he is, he needs to back down his aggressiveness to score and pick his spots, but not put himself in so many bad situations.

I think JHS is already our best at controlling tempo, at least in the half court.

The opportunity here for Tamar...and our team...and X...and our team is also the source of all our frustrations. Striving for consistent high level play, is what will allow both those guys to play professionally. NBA, overseas, whatever. It'll also be needed for us to win the B10 this year, and/or win 4-6 games in a row in the NCAAs.

What you say is absolutely true. But USUALLY, teams that end up in Final Fours and win natty's, are the ones that have enough guys that are capable of dialing it in, in March, and can be relied upon to produce. Villanova, Gonzaga, Kansas... Obviously there are UNC type teams that catch lightning in a bottle. But I'd much rather IU be like the good Villanova teams in the last 5 years.

Got no problem with TB progression toward his groove. Most concerned Geronimo is on pace to never reach his. Can't figure out if he thinks too much or too little.

Just as important was what Tamar didn't do last night. No impossible hero drives to the basket or quick shots out of the offensive rhythm. That's the first step for him to get more PT, more experience, more shots, & more money (at the next level, of course)!

JG didn't see much of the court last night, but he's looked completely lost the past 2 games. He's stuck between worlds....doesn't have the game to play 3 on offense, doesn't have the foot quickness to defend the 3 on defense, but is undersized to defend against true bigs in the post. Kopp playing better means less time for him.

Finally starting to reach expectations, but the big surprise is Galloway who is hitting 46% from 3 and has just 1 turnover in 138 minutes of play. Talk about the most improved player award.

Um, are you talking about the Michael Jordan that averaged 13.5 per game and hit the winning shot against Georgetown to win the natty as a true freshman? Yeah, he sucked.
I meant Jordan wasn’t a killer at 19. He was not able to find any little thing and take it as a slight and fuel his fire. That came in the nba. Tamar also can’t do that at this point.

Tamar has one decent game and being discussed in the same breath with Michael Jordan. I have nothing against TB but WTF are you smoking?

Odds are X has great game Saturday. I think he gets going better in “big games”. Rutgers and Nebraska don’t qualify.
In the Nebraska game they scouted his tendencies and he played right into it. Instead of guarding him straight up, they gave him sideline and pushed him into help and he fell for it everytime and over penetrated. When he dropped his head, a tell, everyone knew the ball wasn't coming back out and that made it easy for them. Late in game, I assume Woodson finally got it in hs head, he quit doing it, got in the gap and made passes.

Arizona could have problems with his speed, but he needs to realize that his primary job is to speed up opposing ball handlers with pressure and to facilitate, not to score or to create for himself. When he does that, he's one of the better PGs in conference.

A great sign is that IU executed efficiently in spite of X losing his focus, again. Need a healthy JHS as a buffer for those games X just doesn't get it.

Actually has had two - he went off for 22 against Jackson State. Comparing TB and MJ at 19 is just that - not really any there there and certainly no cause for contempt.
