Deontae Craig commits to Iowa Hawkeyes

It appears that IU football was the reason that he even was "considering" IU.
Correct, but Allen could not close the deal with an in-state football recruit, that considered Iowa football a better offer for him.

Iowa has dominated IU for the best Indiana high school kids in football. Easy decision for kids who want to play in a really good program with superior coaching, facilities, fan support and tradition.

At this point it still is a better program. IU wins on facilities, stadium, campus etc etc etc...but Iowa still has the better team and history. You saw our last game with them right?

Speaking of help, better fan support (any support) from the basketball only fans would significantly help the football program...just saying
Iowa just has so many advantages on this one. Program tradition, facilities and stadium are far better, as is fan support. Then there’s the NFL pipeline they have. IU is a prettier school and is easier to get into, but everything else tilts heavily to the Hawkeyes.

Well, that will happen with a LOT of athletes. It has been common place in the past and TA is having better luck changing it than other IU coaches have had.

I wish Iu basketball could use that excuse to get top recruits to play for Iu. You know like Bruce brown who played for Miami with its deeeeeep basketball tradition etc etc etc.

Thank you Iu admin!!!!!!

This was a really tough decision for the kid. Allen and the staff did everything they possibly could to get him. Can't blame him for picking Iowa.

I will continue going to IU football games. Going to a bowl would significantly help the IU football program. Not going to a bowl again this season would start to light the fire under coach Allen's feet. IU needs to take the next step to becoming bowl eligible, and then start making a bowl annually.

It would do a lot more than start to light the fire. His seat would be red hot and his recruiting would dry up in a hurry. He has to put it together this year.

2019 record prediction for every Big Ten football team, reality is a 4-8 prediction, Allen remains bowl-less, only 1 B1G win vs Rutgers.

Can't really argue with that. I'd feel more confident the football team could pull out 2 more wins if at least 2 of the games against Maryland, Northwestern, and Purdue were at home. Instead, 2 of the 3 are on the road. 4 or 5 wins seems likely for the season. Again.

I guess it's possible that Ryan Day has a rough start to his head coaching career and IU pulls off an early season upset of OSU. I don't think that's very likely, though.

If so Allen remains bowl-less at IU. At least Archie led IU to a winning regular season, and took IU to the postseason. Allen - no.

Me too. I have gone to home games and had almost as many OSU fans around me as IU fans, at Memorial Stadium.
There will be 25,000+ of those losers in MS you n a little over a month. But the tailgating will be great and anyone can get a pass out!

Better facilities and stadium? Have you been to a game at Kinnick? It's an event and real football culture. Packed house, cool traditions (children's hospital) solid yellow and black EVERYWHERE. If a kid makes a game day visit to each school they would be hard pressed not to choose Iowa.

IU has a prettier campus, better shot at earlier playing time and is closer to home for some in-state recruits that feel that is important. Outside of that every other factor is in Iowa's favor.

IU needs to change the football culture to be competitive.

This year his first class are juniors and RS sophomores. Heavy production by his classes, close games against the big dogs, and five or more wins will get him another year. Then he would be on a “red hot” seat.

I hate the way the children's hospital wave has been manipulated.

If you want to discuss the football fan culture at UI, start that discussion. I was speaking of stadiums. Hope that helps

Iowa is better than us in every way, shape, and form. And it’s sad. That a University in a state more dead than Indiana can build a decent football program.

This is soooo dumb. Iowa has actual football tradition. Allen seems to have gotten some guys but let’s pretend like this one kid picking Iowa is a sign of the apocalypse.

Pro tip: don’t follow IU football if it’s tearing your life up to follow a 5-win team. Any sign of life is a miracle. IU’s been at this a long time! Lol.

You said IU wins on stadium and facilities. I don’t think any non IU fan would agree with you. In fact, I don’t very many IU fans would even agree with you.

Iowa, from a stadium and facilities standpoint, would definitely be superior to IU. IU’s aren’t bad, but they aren’t in Iowa’s class. The vast majority of football fans who have seen both would agree, as you said.

Iowa just tore down and rebuilt part of Kinnick. It is extremely nice and luxurious.

I would expect a PU fan to disagree. Hell, you probably think RA is nicer than MS.

I have been to both IC and Btown and MS is nicer. IC has the better tradition and game day.
