Here's an angle to I've thrown out there that nobody seems to think about.
This is gonna be Dolson's hire. He gets to choose who is the coach. I'm sure he's under immense pressure to hire the correct guy.
With all the coaches in the world, and this being a top 10 job in America (and yes, just because we've made terrible coaching hires doesn't negate what we have to offer in terms of resources, NIL, facilities, ect), why would Dolson take a risk on someone that has that kind of baggage?
Sure, it could absolutely go perfectly fine with no hiccups, but if it doesn't, oh buddy, the backlash that would come down would be like no other.
I've heard Dolson isn't gonna risk putting the university in that situation when there are other routes to go.
