Dakich Touting Aidan O’Connell - I’m Touting Free-Stone Peaches

Might sound crazy, but if David Bell was in Bloomington, the Michael Penix story would have had an entirely different ending. Dakich would probably be touting him as the Heisman frontrunner. On another note, my local orchard was out of those free stone peaches last weekend.

I am not sure how Bell would have kept MP from being injured (although he would have run less I suppose). Too bad David chose pu over us, that would have been a special matchup.

I don’t think we were ever a serious contender for him. Between Kelvin Bell’s pursuit and his fascination Brohm’s offense, it was always going to be difficult. Most people believed he’d already committed to PU when he visited us late, so we’ll never know. Great player.

IU was not even the 2nd choice for Bell. He extended a courtesy visit but he wasn’t coming to this offense. I mean, c’mon folks……he clearly stated he wanted to be in a prolific offense under a guy that develops offensive players. That isn’t the type of offense run at IU.

I know, but you have to recruit a kid like that, and he honored his promise to visit, which s really all we could’ve asked at that point. I think he was always honest with us about where we stood, which you have to admire. Easily one of the best players to come out of Indiana in a decade, at least.

He clearly stated that it was between IU and PU. Penix/Bell would have been the superior matchup by a long shot. The injury bug was in the future at that point.

Good lord Dan. Trying to get a rise from us IU fans
O’Connell is a good player, but he’s not a heist an level guy by any stretch. The three game stretch where he looked so good was against NU, us and UT, so I think that has to be considered just a little when determining how good he really is. Pretty sure he was fighting to start this time last year.

It was a 6 game stretch. He was fighting to start last year, but only because he wasn't as mobile as Plummer and Brohm had oline concerns. Dude has a heck of an arm. Talented player for sure. Brohm did a good job developing him. He lacks the intangibles to be a true Heisman though.

The original poster said Dakich referenced a three game stretch, so that’s what I based my comments on.

Ah. Ok. Ya. His final 6 games were impressive. Wisconsin on. Really, vs Tennessee, he threw for 500+ yards without Bell and Wright, but I thought he seemed a little off. He missed a few throws that he shouldn't have. Idk if that's because of not having Bell and Wright or what. He's going to be the reason why Purdue wins 6 or 10 though.

You two ladies can take it to your own board.

No on cares about p u over here until November...
You should take that issue up with the thread starter or, since it’s the off season, just let us talk football. Thanks.

You promised you would stop following me around. Keep your word and let the board talk IU football, please.
Nope.

It is off season and you came here and started in on me as you always do.

Too much fun batting you around.

Remember, I am not the one here pretending I am not who I am. Honesty wins every time.

I did no such thing. You’ve been trolling me since I started posting, and the threads prove this. Please stop trolling and either talk IU football or leave. Not sure how much clearer this needs to be for you.

But you are the one following him around like a jilted middle schooler. Just stop.
Actually the opposite is the prevalent course of events and has been since his first day with this username. And...why do you care what happens over here? Feel free to take him back with you to GBI.

Hope this helps.

IU seemed to be on that track a couple OC's ago.

Had DeBoer been a longer term OC for us, I think we have a legitimate shot at Bell. He (DB) liked Brohm early, but also liked OSU and Iowa (Kelvin Bell, who’s done really well on Indiana, plus his WC teammates). OSU stupidly backed away a bit, which is still perplexing, bit Iowa was right there given all of the Indy ties in IC. By the time he visited us in December, though, he was basically already committed to PU.
