Goode still needs to play 12 minutes a game. Experience, rest for other guys, and someday he will start shooting well again....smhTucker and Galloway are starter level players, , top 7 alone makes it a deep team. Goode Hatton can eat minutes when necessary
you can win at a high level only playing 7, giving spots minutes to a couple of others. with all the tv timeouts and breaks in play a college age kid should be able to play 30 -36 minutes with easeGoode still needs to play 12 minutes a game. People said the same stuff last year Banks, Gunn, Cupps, Walker, Sparks, hell Woodson was hockey subbing units.Tucker and Galloway are starter level players, , top 7 alone makes it a deep team. Goode Hatton can eat minutes when necessary
Didn’t sign those guys. You need to pay attention if you want to discuss this or anything else with me.Ok 2024 #2

Mike Woodson is a great recruiter signed Liam Mcneely, Braylen Mullins, Jalan Harlarison, Malachi Moreno, Boogie Fland, Derek Queen, Flory Bidunga.. and this list goes on and on...
The guy is here for one reason. To be a dick.Didn’t sign those guys. You need to pay attention if you want to discuss this or anything else with me.

Probably could...but there's no reason to...Goode will make shots.you can win at a high level only playing 7, giving spots minutes to a couple of others. with all the tv timeouts and breaks in play a college age kid should be able to play 30 -36 minutes with ease
and he's just a good teammate and influence on the floor. Knows his role, where to be, where others should be and isn't afraid to say so. Goode's been good without shooting. He, and IU, can be really good when he starts hitting, and he will. He's gonna be fine and gonna play.Probably could...but there's no reason to...Goode will make shots.
Better t.m.p. than m.t.p. - man’s tiny penisDoes t.m.p stand for tiny man penis
I'd be pleased if Goode could provide two three's a game. One for each half would really help out. He is capable of it.Probably could...but there's no reason to...Goode will make shots.
That is $10K per three.I'd be pleased if Goode could provide two three's a game. One for each half would really help out. He is capable of it.
Exactly. He didn’t suddenly forget how to shoot. Carlyle was the whipping boy. Have to keep new ones to pound on. It’s been Cupps, Ballo , Goode this week. Of course Woody everyday.Probably could...but there's no reason to...Goode will make shots.
Of course he didn't that was a sarcastic response he missed on all of those kids this year and last year.Didn’t sign those guys. You need to pay attention if you want to discuss this or anything else with me.

There's nothing wrong with criticism, especially of the coach, if done with reasoning, logic and knowledge. That guy though has a raging hard-on for Woodson and is trying to find any and every reason to discredit him but most often only discredits himself.. which makes him appear as being a bit dumber than a common fool.Exactly. Unlike yourself apparently, I am aware of what the situation is.Of course he didn't that was a sarcastic response he missed on all of those kids this year and last year.
Analytics: there no gain playing anyone in 2 minute stints or going past 8 players. It's generally a loss in efficiency.you can win at a high level only playing 7
When I watched his high school video my one thought was-What? I am sure he is a good kid and deserves the best but if not for that video with Lebron….Got cooked and fell over in his first two defensive trips today.
Got the ball handed to him on the next play. Dont let that fool you into thinking he did something good.
Mgbako needs to show a lot more before the NBA sniffs him. I think Cignetti has debunked the potential theory. When I watched his high school video my one thought was-What? I am sure he is a good kid and deserves the best but if not for that video with Lebron….
Mgbako’s shot has improved from last year just as I hoped it would. I believe he has the highest NBA potential of any player we have had for many seasons. Even last year he had Shooters Confidence that we haven’t seen in quite some time.
Celtics are averaging like 50 3’s per game attempted this season and only 40 2’s. Mgbako has starting potential in the modern NBA game.
Mack daddy for sure. He has the potential to make a run for big ten player of the year. When I watched his high school video my one thought was-What? I am sure he is a good kid and deserves the best but if not for that video with Lebron….

NBA loves potential. With his size and if he keeps shooting this way, he's gonna garner interest. Needs to keep showing he can put it on the floor and defend, but a 6'9" guy who can do all that is a first rounder if not lottery guy. They'll draft him lower and believe they can teach him the rest.Mgbako needs to show a lot more before the NBA sniffs him. I think Cignetti has debunked the potential theory.
Knecht hit 9 3’s last night and very well could be rookie of the year. If you have size and can shoot it brings more than a sniff.NBA loves potential. Sheppard didn’t even start last year and went third in the draft simply because he could shoot the 3. Mgbako has taken a major step forward with his game, but Knecht had elite handles to go along with his shot.Knecht hit 9 3’s last night and very well could be rookie of the year. If you have size and can shoot it brings more than a sniff.
Knecht was just for general interest but Sheppard makes my point -if you have good size and are a knock down 3 pt shooter then you have very good NBA prospects (I know Sheppard even not big).Mgbako has taken a major step forward with his game, but Knecht had elite handles to go along with his shot.
Sheppard was picked 3rd in the draft and Cal didn’t start him…..sounds right.Sheppard didn’t even start last year and went third in the draft simply because he could shoot the 3. Mgbako has good size and if he continues this shooting they will have a nose up his butt not just a sniff.
I like his posts.Hopefully you retire from this board as well. You bring nothing. Insufferable.
Knecht 10x above MM right now, he needs to learn to play hard and play defense, has the potential but still has a lot to proveMgbako has taken a major step forward with his game, but Knecht had elite handles to go along with his shot.
Yep. Knecht for me, was the most impressive offensive player I saw last year. Great shooter, good handle, great motor. Mbako has a lot of potential, but nowhere near what little I saw of DK last year.Knecht 10x above MM right now, he needs to learn to play hard and play defense, has the potential but still has a lot to prove
first time I saw videos of Knecht (probably first time i heard of him) when he entered the portal and we thought, for a few minutes, that we might have a shot, after a couple videos, you could tell the kid had serious athletic freakism on his side. Size (height, length and muscle mass), serious hops, a shot, inner drive. If he stays healthy he's an NBA all star in the making, and it won't take long.Yep. I forget who it was I was watching them play last year, but what most impressed me was his motor. Kid just kept moving and penetrating the D, looking for scoring opps. He was looking to score at 4 levels: including the FT line.first time I saw videos of Knecht (probably first time i heard of him) when he entered the portal and we thought, for a few minutes, that we might have a shot, after a couple videos, you could tell the kid had serious athletic freakism on his side. In college, I don't think there's any question on this. Well, there isn't, the numbers bear it out.Analytics: there no gain playing anyone in 2 minute stints or going past 8 players. It's generally a loss in efficiency.
It's why I've been praying for a coach to cut the rotation to 8. Rotation meaning 10+ minutes minimum and/or 5 percent of team minutes + usage. Short stint players generally have horrible production and efficiency numbers.
I think this could end up being a situation where Gabe just doesn't fit the overall style and program at IU. So, if he loves the staff and the school enough to stick it out, I think he'll always be a guy that gets sporadic minutes, and isn't really in a system or role that will allow him to fully thrive. And if he's o.k. with that? Who are we to judge and worry about it. No team ever plays 13 guys, if Cupps ends up as a happy and engaged 12th or 13th man on our roster...we'll be pretty damn lucky he chose to stick it out.back to Cupps...and let me caveat this with the following- seems like great kid, hard worker, etc. Been thinking of posting the comments below for a while, but have held off, because I feel like I'm stabbing a real good kid in the back.
Got nothing against him personally, really hope he pans out at IU.
But, I'm now convinced he will not. With the guards CMW brought in through portal, and will probably continue to, I struggle to see how Cupps' game will ever lead to meaningful minutes at IU. Never seen a player put so few numbers into the box score. And opposing guards foam at the mouth when they see him covering them. Again, just my opinion based on what I've been able to see on the court and in the box scores.
That said, do you think his departure is eventually inevitable? I hear "he loves it at IU, blah blah". But do you think he loves riding the bench and seeing where this is heading for him? No real development from what I can see, so far. No real meaningful role on this team, unless we have an injury in the backcourt (and let's be real, if that happens, this team's prospects take a major step backwards).
That said, and I really hate midseason departures, but would he just ride the bench this season and hope he gets some chances? Or could he be our next Luke Fisher? (although I did think Luke had a good future at IU )
Again, I hope this all flips and he starts playing and contributing. But...I've seen enough to say, I haven't seen much. Or at least enough to have any reasonable level of optimism. Anyone with thoughts, pls fire away. Would love nothing more than to be proven wrong on this one.
Yeah, college and the NBA have changed quite a bit, but I’m with you. A Cheaney or Alford were putting a 40 (not Calbert’s #, I’m talking mins) in the box score quite a bit. And second rotations have existed in the NBA for how long?In college, I don't think there's any question on this. Well, there isn't, the numbers bear it out.
Its gonna be fascinating, to me anyways, what happens in the NBA though. They've long handled the 82 game, 48 minute games workload questions and issues with a "2nd Unit" approach.
It seems the Warriors, yet again, might be blazing a path by essentially playing 12-13 players significant minutes, every night. In a league with as much talent as the NBA has, with how the energy and competitiveness minute to minute can ebb and flow as much as it has historically in the NBA...I suspect the Warriors new approach is going to take over. Too many good players for it not to...go in, play your ass off for 24-28 minutes, play every single night...
In college, I just don't think its necessary. 2 games a week, 40 minute games, longer shot clocks, 8 media timeouts...play your top guys as many minutes as you can.
What we see he lives. My guess is he sees his own limitations and is making peace with them and he may stay or may go. I don’t know him so can’t say. He has Leal as an example and may decide his best path in life at this point is to stay.back to Cupps...and let me caveat this with the following- seems like great kid, hard worker, etc. Been thinking of posting the comments below for a while, but have held off, because I feel like I'm stabbing a real good kid in the back.

Like never...makes me so mad. And we know that Woodson knows that too, he dramatically shortened the bench last year as the year wore on. He has access to all the same lineup efficiency stuff us couch coaches do.Yeah, college and the NBA have changed quite a bit, but I’m with you. The hockey line substitutions do nothing in the pre season to help figure out what combinations are most efficient together as a team. Isn’t it logical, just more common sense to ride your horses, and see how sprinkling in a few reserves with the core play together? This is the time of the year to experiment, but it should never mean bringing in 4 guys off the bench together like we are the ‘91 Bulls.
I think it’s an ego thing. My speculation is that he thinks he is smarter than other college coaches. In other words, that he’s on to some super secret trick that no college coach is smart enough to have tried.Like never...makes me so mad. And we know that Woodson knows that too, he dramatically shortened the bench last year as the year wore on. He has access to all the same lineup efficiency stuff us couch coaches do.
So why does he have extended stretches, ever, in contested games, when 0,1, even 2 starters are in the game. Without going too negative on this...to me, it likely points to some larger flaws in his philosophies and his mindset as a coach.
