Cupps is awful

The very first time Smith drove to the basket uncontested, Woody should have called a TO and dressed down whoever was supposed to guard him and then put his ass on the bench.

I've never seen a 6' guard drive the lane with no challenge as many times as I saw last night. Disgusting display and if the team's not embarrassed by that, then they shouldn't be playing. I'm pissed with their total lack of awareness.
I think it was a result of the defensive scheme. Both guards rolled back. Mike finally got it adjusted at the media time out.

By then, the damage was done and we were 20 points behind. He should have called a TO the first time and got it fixed.

And it happened several times after that.

No it wouldn't. Teams would stop doing it.

The style of ball 20 or 30 years ago didn't include the moving picks and lane violations and pure mugging that goes on today without calls.

The game used to be much cleaner, although everyone still bitched about the refs. lol
Moving picks, illegal screens, palming, travel, trash talk not the same game in many ways

One thing that's changed for the better - used to drive me crazy - is a player putting his hands all over the dribbler. How that was ever allowed, I don't know. But the refs cracked down on that and you don't see it much - if any - anymore.

Freedom of movement, same you can't chuck cutters anymore. That was standard Knight ball u man defense . Do not get split by ball or cutter.

Those were all standard defense until about 2010. Pitinos teams always have an arm on top of ball handler off arm which makes it difficult to switch hands dribbling when other defender jumps the dribbler.

I am not sure Sloan ever set a perfectly legal screen, he always shifted his weight into the opposing player to knock them just a little off balance.

Some truth to that. Ware is a nice outside shooter and good in pick and roll action, as well as in midrange post moves. But he shows a lack of strength often and gives up way too much real estate defensively in the paint. He just needs a lot more work to meet his potential.
Yet how many times has Ware and/or Reneau carried this team when the backcourt and no bench was hurting it?

They all move their butts now. And it's never called.
