Culture

I know you know this because you make it public that you bet on every game. That said, you know going into NW, prior to it being announced we were sitting 5 players, the game was essentially a pick ‘em. We were underdogs at Sparty and at OSU. Vegas had us losing. And while we were favored at home vs Wiscy, we lost not because of NW, but because we can’t contain Davis and we have no play makers to close a game. We can just agree to disagree, but from my soap box, NW had ZERO to do with the losses. Nothing. It has everything to do with us being a bad team, not executing when we need to, missed defensive assignments, sloppy passes, missed free throws, missed layups, inability to create shots, yadda yadda yadda. You know, the same shit we’ve been saying all season and the three seasons prior since Yogi graduated. We lost because we aren’t a good team. Perhaps the pieces are there, but they can’t finish a game to save their season. And they had two chances in back to back games and blew both of them. But yeah, sure….it’s all because two starters, one who can’t guard a parked car, and three role players who avg less than 5 minutes playing time a game. Yep. That’s it. We lost because of sitting them agaisnt NW. C’mon Cav. You are better and smarter than this!
but he's not... he's ultimately an emotional child

Yes.

There aren't enough that you waste them. And certainly not 10 of 15 seconds before they're gonna give you one anyway.

He called the TO with 16:01 and the TVTO occurred at 15:48.
Again, it only stopped because there was a dead ball. It’s not guaranteed.

l can tell you with 100% certainty tho, the outcomes could not be worse. So by doing anything different the only possible outcome was to achieve more wins, not possible to have done worse.
It was absolutely possible to have done worse. Remember when one of our players ran over another player with his car.

Woody is too old for big picture and so is IU's losing ways. My opinion only, I usually would side with you on this. I just think IU is such a unique situation is college sports. It is insane how much people care about a program that is this bad. You can't name another program that is even close in football or basketball. Truly a one of a kind situation.
It really is amazing how much we still care about a bad program. I honestly did think we would win last night when were up 4 but I guess I should know better as I really am starting to think the program is cursed. This team could easily have 10 or 11 conference wins but you almost sense the opponent's know we will choke it away at the end in close games

I was 100% thinking we aren’t gonna cover the spread when it when to OT. Was one of those if you don’t win in regulation no chance in OT. And I always think we are gonna win!!!

I'm never 100%, but i wouldn't have bet your money at that point.

Suspending the players at NW was an awful idea. Good thought in principal, but has proven to be the worst decision of the season.
Disagree. You don’t change/build a culture by picking and choosing when to stick to your principles.

How so? We have lost way to many games we should have won. That was just another one of those games

Sitting the players @NW was the right thing to do. There's only a few times that a coach can do something to enforce discipline and it had to be done. These problems go back to the Crean years. Maybe before. If he doesn't do that, the last few losses would've been worse. Before we know it, we have players trying to jump moving vehicles (again). Keep in mind every single player was a first year player or a young Freshman. It's really hard to have a reliable offense when you don't have any consistent shooters or a true point guard. X is getting there but he isn't there yet.

No way Take off your Crimson glasses. There is no better comparison. I would argue they are identical. IUhas won B1G titles as recent as 2016. They went to Seeet sixteens twice in the last 10 years. Huskers have fallen dramatically and have not been relevant at all. Much like IU…especially the last 6 seasons. If we are having a competition for the tallest midget at the county fair, I would say it’s a tie.
Pelini won at least 9 games at Nebraska for 7 straight years ending in 2014. They’ve been bad for 8 years. We’ve been bad for 20.

Next years lineup? Another 15 win team? We need shooters I say Parker, Durr, Tjd, Phinesee, Leal, and maybe Geronimo transfer.

PG Xavier, Lander
SG Galloway, Bates
SF Schifino, Gunn
PF Kopp, Banks
C Thompson, Geronimo, Duncomb

With the benefit of hindsight sitting the players at NW was a disaster. Sports are all about momentum. That seems like a critical inflection point in this season. Admittedly hindsight is 20/20 though.

Al but one of those games were expected losses, so not much difference if any. There's still 3 very winnable games left. Lose 2 out of 3 and, yes you're right. We don't know if Woodson would've completely lost the team if he didn't sit them, and they realized they could do whatever they wanted without repercussions.

If you are going to say that, then are you just going to forget about us being ranked number one in 2013? Winning 3 B1G regular season titles? Going to national championship in 2002? Again, it’s the tallest midget at the county fair. We win the B1G outright 6 years ago. Nothing to brag about, but in the grand scheme of things. Both programs are living in their past and are a shadow of what they once were. Which in both cases was dominance and national notoriety.

NW and Wisconsin were not expected losses. And OSU was very winnable. 18-8 is a lot different than 16-10. I fully admit these decisions are easy with hindsight.

2002 was 20 years ago. I get that we’ve had a couple decent years out of that 20 but those are anomalies. Nebraska was consistently good until 2014.

Well, 2 but I wasn't counting NW because half the team was suspended.

No, but I do remember when one of our players foolishly jumped on the hood of a moving car being driven by a teammate, but many did not read the actual police report describing what really happened.
