CTC

Rumblings.....

out of Bloomington are that he is looking for an NBA gig anyway. "Tired of the lack of support" from the fan base and donors etc etc.

Don't delete the messenger. We will see what happens.

I not sure about this, but

I sure don't think he would do very good as an NBA coach. Only time will tell.

crean

I am not sure how anyone or IU fans can look at Crean and say he is a good basketball coach and that IU is in good hands. He has served his role here of getting IU out from under the Sampson cloud. Now it is time to go out and get a coach that can get IU back where it belongs.

Well, that would open the door for Steve to come home

The thing is, I have a hard time seeing Crean as a successful NBA head coach. I think CTC can a be a very solid mid-major coach over the long-term.

While I think many appreciate what TC has done from ground zero the in game and roster management has many if not most feeling let down about the future of the program. But in reality there are lots of schools wanting a better coach that gives a great future outlook to a program. And IU is NOT elite and has not been for at least two decades. BK started the decline and Samscum finished it off. So just what coaches do some of you that squeak the loudest think would actually come to IU if offered the job? Bennett,Stevens and Marshall are probably the best three young guys with at least some sort of resume to go by that IU would have to have on a short list. Bennett is a resounding NO. Stevens is making way more than IU can afford so that leaves Marshall. Who here believes he is a huge upgrade form TC? I think he is a better game coach but what about recruiting the top talent? I personally just HATE the idea of a revolving door for the IU head coaching position. But would support a BS hire in a second.

Re: crean

I no longer think Crean is the right man for the job.

Re: We can sit here and debate this until we are blue in the face

Yeah there is no way the repubs could win the house or Senate. Hope people like you keep wagging your tails.

Oh, please, but....

that sounds like such bullsh_t. He's not NBA material and he's not tired of the lack of support. He knows it ain't happening like he hoped. He's just thankful for the job he has-it pays well.

There are plenty of bad NBA coaches

out there that shouldn't be head coaches in the league but they some how get jobs. Was Lon Kruger a coach who you thought would go to the NBA and be successful. I don't believe this rumor at all but some guys want to try the highest level and how do we know it would be as a head coach maybe he would start out as an assistant.

He would be a terrible NBA coach.

The things Crean is best at are irrelevant in the pros, and the things he is worst at are critical. He'd flame out in the NBA.

Nationwide election there, Sparky. Not my tail showing, it be yours.

Damnit Darrell, I'll just say it since you can't take a hint:

will you take IUScott fishing?

Darrell, I am 74 and with you all the way because have nailed it....GOOD POST!

Well, this jimmy would welcome a change...

not sure who you are referring to, but CTC has underachieved, and I just do not believe he can take IU where we want to be.

His first season on the job was his best

Or maybe it was the second (one of those two). Every other season has been awful or disappointing.

Any NBA team that takes him as a head guy is one of the dumbest teams

in all of sports. I agree with you. His strengths are absolutely in the college game.

He's a decent coach. There are a lot of schools that could use him and should be happy to have him. IU is just not one of those schools now.

My mom has no smart phone, no internet, but she does have satellite TV

so at least she can watch IU games.

I'm not sure that I understand the "win at all costs" argument

CTC has had 7 years. I think it's obvious that the program is what it is. This is what IU is going to be under CTC. It's not like IU is changing coaches on a regular basis or anything. IU got rid of Samson due to sanctions and has given CTC at a minimum seven years.

While I don't see Glass changing coaches this offseason, I don't think that if he did take such action, it would be considered a "win at all costs" kind of thing.

Let's face it. Deep down, IU fans somewhat expect mediocrity in football, but demand more in basketball.
