Crean has been contacted by LSU

Yes,Calipari and Crean have no choice but to play each other. That's a great comedy play. This would make for great news coverage.
They will be forced to play in their home courts. This reminds me, I hope our new coach stands firm to Calipari and keeps future games in college basketball venues.

Good spot for him. Football school that doesn't pay attention to the basketball team

Exactly what I was thinking. He not only needs to be in the SEC, but as far south in the SEC as you can get. If he could win the SEC once every four or five years he'd probably get a lifetime contract at LSU.

This somehow seems like an ideal fit. Few people down there will care as much about his Xs and Os and his lack of home state recruiting success.

SEC is a football conference. LSU is a football school. Less pressure on Crean. I expected a directional Mid-Major school.

I also expected the possibility of Crean to Pitt. Former Purdue player and coach Stallings is even more awful than Crean.

if he can make the tournament 2 out of every 4 years , compete in the SEC west, maybe get a top 25 ranking once every 4 years, he'll get 10 years at LSU

I don't know the timeline - did Crean get that monster contract after beating the 2012 UK team?
IIRC Before... after signing Zeller. I may be mistaken though.

I'm trying very hard to forget everything about Crean.

Perhaps Calipari, in an effort to avoid Crean, will reach out to Glass and throw his hat in the ring...

False

LSU has a decent basketball tradition and have Final Four banners hanging in the rafters along with Shaq and Pistol's jerseys. They ran Brady off and he made it to a Final Four in 2006.

Man, I'm glad you made it clear to everyone that was a false statement. I'm sure the entire board took it seriously. Thanks for clearing that up.

agree or that new coach could successfully recruit Indy and not have to worry as much about Cal beating his ass there

Good for him. At least he won't have to face Buckyville twice or more each year and get it handed to him.

I hope IU will owe Cream less after he finds another job. So IUcan pay the new coach more money and get the Coach IU needs to win another National Title.

It's LSU!!! Dammit!!! It says so on the jersey.

as a UK fan I want this to happen.
Yeah they are supposable friends, but I am not buying it. I don't like how either act, but it isn't even close when it comes to being creepy and a poor coach. Wonder if he gets a tanning bed on the deal or if he has to bring his own...

This I do know. There is a tight network among coaches at all levels. Todd Franklin, coach of Vincennes University, is very friendly with Calipari. Crean and Calipari are friends. Franklin was a former room mate with Crean at WKU and they are still friends. Franklin and Pitino are bitter enemies. So much so when Pitino (among others including Crean and Gregg Marshall) was recruiting Mulder, he bypassed Franklin and reached out to Mulder's high school coach to set up a recruiting call.It is my opinion and at least one other coach I know, that Calipari got involved late with Mulder due to disruptive recruiting and that Pitino really wanted Mulder. Calipari didn't need Mulder. Anyone else wonder why UK would want to pick up a juco player?

In a similar hatred of coaches. Carl Landry was escorted to IU to meet with Mike Davis by former VU coach Dan Sparks. Davis showed little interest in the visit and Coach Sparks wasn't shy in telling others that he would never recommend another player to play for that "idiot". The idiot being Davis. As we know, Landry went to become a star at Purdue and on to the NBA.

Word got out quickly that Davis wasn't only disliked by high school coaches, but other coaches like Sparks. I feel Crean had a similar lack of respect among the state high school coaches. We saw this as the state players have dwindled down to Indiana kids that are walk-on or DII level playing at IU. Meanwhile, TV analysts would say what a wonderful coach Crean was. If so, why did the home talent steer clear of him?
