confirmation hearings

One of the Dem Senators questioning Hegseth brought up something about a forensic audit.

I thought that was incredibly rich -- considering what we know about the Pentagon's clusterf*** finances, overseen by all the highly qualified Secretaries of Defense which have preceded the obviously unqualified Hegseth.

The DOD has auditors from every Big 4 audit firm, and plenty of smaller audit firms... out the ass... and has for years. Lack of auditors isn't the issue. Hell I think they spend something like $1B a year on outside auditors currently.

Joni is yet another Lucy with the football for me. I thought she would show some backbone or character or dignity... but no, she's scared of being primaried and being the target of mean Twuths.
Come on Mark! Me showing backbone and dignity.

I'm saying that if the standard for qualification to be SecDef is to have not overseen messy books, then which recent SecDef was qualified for the office?

That's one of the arguments being lobbed at Hegseth -- that Vets for Freedom (which he led for a few years) had an external forensic audit done. We don't know what the results of it were. But that's beside the point I'm making here.

I'm just saying that, given the very well-publicized mess that is the Pentagon's finances (over decades), is this really how they want to set the bar for qualification?
