Just took the lead late!! đź‘€
I expect the Committee currently views IU , Clemson, Alabama and even South Carolina as “very close.”Clemson loss is good for IU. They were breathing down our necks and Warde Manuel, the committee chair, said last weekend they viewed IU and Clemson as very close. Not now, assuming we take care of business tonight.
That's what they would say on TV, yes, because when they are on TV their primary concern is selling the Playoff, not providing accurate analysis. They aren't going to say IU has the inside track and they control their own destiny, even though I think that is pretty close to the truth. If they pander to the other three fan bases and keep them engaged they sell more Dr. Pepper ads.I expect the Committee currently views IU , Clemson, Alabama and even South Carolina as “very close.”
No.I expect the Committee currently views IU , Clemson, Alabama and even South Carolina as “very close.”
I didn’t say any of them would automatically jump IU, I said if IU struggled with Purdue then (at least) one of them could.No.
Clemson had a shot to jump us because they had just two losses prior to today and a win over SC would have enhanced their resume. That didn’t happen and now Clemson, Bama and SC are all 3-loss teams. None of those three will jump IU assuming we take care of business tonight.
Relax. We’re in.I didn’t say any of them would automatically jump IU, I said if IU struggled with Purdue then (at least) one of them could.
Theoretically it should help IU that So Carolina only won by 3 points and to date Bama hasn’t looked all that great vs Auburn, but IU still needs to leave the Committee no pretext to elevate any other team over them.
We certainly should be because the winning margins for so many other teams were unimpressive and IU did as much as anyone could reasonably want them to do.Relax. We’re in.
We’re an emerging brand. We certainly should be because the winning margins for so many other teams were unimpressive and IU did as much as anyone could reasonably want them to do.
The only way they can keep IU out now is if they announce on Tuesday “all that talk about SOS, good losses, margins, was just a charade; all we care about are brands and ratings-PSYCH!!”
Gotta think all this chaos will make the push (especially by the SEC and B1G 10) for a 14-team playoff in 2 years all that much stronger. We’re an emerging brand.
“IU plays good like a Cig-coached team should.”
I’d like to see 16 with no byes and no champ games. Top 8 host.Gotta think all this chaos will make the push (especially by the SEC and B1G 10) for a 14-team playoff in 2 years all that much stronger.
If not a 16-team playoff with 4 automatic bids apiece for the SEC and the B1G 10.
The Conference Championship Games are now very awkward. If I am being completely honest I'm kinda glad we don't have to deal with that game. Sure it would be nice to have a shot at winning the B1G but I think most would take a run in the Playoff over a Conference Title Trophy. It also presents the problem we see with Georgia and Texas, teams could end up facing each other three times in the same season. For me at least that eventuality is very undersirable. On the other hand if you just eliminate the Conference Championship Games what's the point of having Conferences? Maybe we end up with a super Conference and a relegation system? I don't know what the answer is.I’d like to see 16 with no byes and no champ games. Top 8 host.
If they like the byes, I think 12 is fine; 16 would be the max, imo. I hate the stupid 68 team field in th NCAAs; 64 is fine and correct. Adding 4 teams adds nothing... not even that much revenue and is unfair to those teams having to play an extra game.I’d like to see 16 with no byes and no champ games. Top 8 host.
