A couple of interesting things here:

a) "Coach Dennis Felton and his entire staff have been fired by Cleveland State after two seasons, athletic director Scott Garrett said Friday," apparently not just for losing.

b) "Following Friday's news, Cleveland State guard Rasheem Dunn told ESPN's Jeff Borzello that he intends to transfer."

"Dunn sat out last season after transferring from St. Francis, where he averaged 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He said he hopes to receive a waiver to play immediately."

Guard Rasheem Dunn's numbers:

Talk about fall from grace. He may have been the only man to get a d1 school into the tournament with a losing record by winning the sec championship in 2008. He’s served as an assistant in the nba. I’m guessing the op is implying their best player may consider Indiana, but there’s no mention of it. Plus it’s cleveland state. I could average 16 a game on a terrible team

You're still here after posting this on a national board mocking IU and its fans:

I would say this direct quote from you is disrespectful to ALL IU fans:

"Indiana has the absolute worst fan base in basketball. You know it’s bad when cal basically has to say he won’t play there and allow himself, his players, or their families put up with their shit. I couldn’t tell you about the 56 fans that show up for football." W2B posted this on the Rivals National Basketball Board.

Why are you still on this board after being outed as a lying , disingenuous troll?.

I can guess who you are talking about. He's pretty much the only poster here I have on ignore. He adds less value than a 1000 fire Archie posts from fpeaugh per day.

Dude let it go. I didn’t know it was a Purdue. Why you’re are so upset is beyond me. I’m adding to the conversation. If you don’t like me. Put me on ignore. I’m not got to fall into your trap to trigger me. I’ve been posting long enough where I don’t get triggered. The fact you found one post to that was I’m jest is really sad. I don’t disrespect anyone when I post here. I do enjoy talking basketball with everyone here, if you don’t like it put me on ignore, and stop being such a douche over one post I made as a joke I’m jest.

Thank you, the dude cant let one quote that was a troll post on purpose go. Everyone here knows I’m a uk fan and when I do post about Indiana basketball here I’m being sincere. Why he is so obsessed with me is unknown, but quite flattering. As you know there are plenty of alleged Indiana fans on this board that have said a lot worse things than I have and they were being serious. I like to gain other fans perspectives of the game. Why he is so triggered is beyond me, but it’s not like I’m going to cry myself to sleep because jimmy doesn’t like me. I’ve done nothing on this forum and discuss basketball in a civil matter and compliment the current players on the team.

What exactly do you want me to say? What will make you happy besides me not being here? I haven’t once attacked or disrespected you but it’s your mission to continue to attack me over one post that I said was to troll a poster on the main board. Some fans on here say far worse things and they are supposed Indiana fans.

I hope you aren't insinuating that you want IU to go after that kid.

Yeah...he hasn't played since 17/18 season after sitting out a year for transfer. He was a 30 mpg starter for 2 years @ St Francis, but shot a tick under 38% from the floor and 26% from 3 in 60 games over his 2 seasons. It would maybe be different if the kid was a facilitator (only averages about 2 assists and 2 turnovers a game). If he is working with one year of eligibility so we don't tie up a scholly then maybe take a flyer, but. I just don't see how this kid fits.

It's really quite simple, if you want to be accepted here and have "great bball discussions with another blueblood program..." as you so often claim, stop dogging IU on other sites and then coming here and acting like you're pro IU. You heap praise on Archie, but my sense is you, (like almost anyone who follows bball closely) have to be having doubts, as are many of us. I don't think sincerity is too much to ask. I've seen some other posts by you on other sites that also dogged IU. Two faced is not a good look for anyone.

Not sure why you guys are killing W2B. He's a KY fan who likes to mix it up. I think it's cool he posts here. Many always take his bait, which is funny.
I wish we played every year like we used to. Loved that game on our schedule. Great for those of us from the line i.e EVV, etc. The game has special meaning where license plates from both states are common and people have friends who wear Blue or Crimson.
Go Hoosiers!

Wall, I've defended you on here before. But if you really wrote these things elsewhere (and you haven't denied it), then you're duplicitous. You act one way when posting here and a very different way when posting somewhere else.

So it's probably best you just post somewhere else, really.

I used to think the same thing. Sometimes you run into fans of other programs who are genuinely civil and aren't just insufferable trolls. And I really thought that's who he was.

I welcome fans of any other program who are civil and add other perspectives to post here. It gets boring when these kinds of forums become echo chambers. I've made a few posts on other teams' boards. But I can assure you that (a) I'm civil when I do it, and (b) I don't turn around and insult them when I'm posting in other venues.

But I think it seems clear that he's only civil about us when he's here. And that's a shame.

I'm not killing him, I'm just saying I think he's made it clear what he really thinks of IU fans and our program, but that's not the song he sings here most of the time, which is "I just want to talk bball with another blueblood...". If other fans are respectful, I welcome them, but I don't like when they act friendly here and then ridicule us on another site.

I wish we played UK every year too, but I think it's complete BS for UK to claim their fans and players were put at risk playing at AH. I can guarantee from being in Lexington supporting an opposing team, they are one of the worst at threatening other teams fans, getting in their faces, etc... Generally my experience at AH with opposing fans is Hoosiers seek them out, welcome them, maybe have some fun "banter" but I've never seen IU fans harass, threaten, or give other fans trouble. I don't doubt that it's happened in isolated instances, but in terms of "threatening environments" AH wouldn't make anyone objective persons top 10 list, and probably not top 20, in my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to wear an opposing fans shirt to AH, and while I'd do it at Rupp, I'd know that I'm going to be harassed for doing so.

Every team has some bad eggs among their fans. Some may have more than others, some may have less. But all teams have mostly good people as fans and some who take it too far.

Kentucky isn’t immune from this and neither are we.

And you don't think UK has more that take it too far? You think a ref who called more fouls against IU would have received the same treatment from IU fans if say, we got beat by UK in a tourney game and had a big foul disparity? Oh wait, that did happen... and I never heard of the ref receiving death threats or calls by the thousands.

https://www.kentucky.com/sports/college/mens-basketball/article176839966.html

here's the box score to the 2012 IU v UK tourney game (37:17 on FTs, 18:27 on fouls).

Again, I've been to Rupp as a visitor of the opposing team... the treatment from UK fans is not fun.

Well, I don’t know. It’s possible.

But it never makes sense to disparage a large group of people by citing the bad behaviors of some in that group.

In the NFL, the fans who (arguably) have the worst reputation are Eagles’ fans. And maybe they do have more bad eggs than other teams do. But that doesn’t mean it’s right to paint all Eagles fans with a broad brush. Nor does it mean that other teams don’t also have their own share of bad eggs.

I didn't paint all UK fans as such. I've known several good UK fans and we used to have some who posted on here. Frankly, I admire the depth of their fans support, but I've been around enough to also know that they have more than their share who carry it too far. Read the article I linked, or better yet do your own Google search of referee threatened by UK fans... then do the same for IU fans. Let me know what you find!

Had TV officiated the IU-Duke game in the internet era, there’s no doubt he would’ve encountered similar treatment. He’s still vilified by IU fans over 25 years later.

I know all about the situation. And, obviously, some UK fans crossed a very critical line. I guarantee that whole sordid matter caused reverberations in sports leagues around the world regarding the security of their game officials.

But keep in mind that the severity of the actions of the bad eggs in this case doesn't really speak to how many bad eggs inhabit Big Blue Nation. However many crossed that line, to one degree or another, it still represented a very small percentage of all UK fans.

Again, I'm not saying that UK does or doesn't have a higher percentage of "bad egg" fans than any other college sports program. I don't really know -- it's entirely possible that they do. But all we really have to go by is anecdotal evidence -- which is to say no evidence.

Read the article. It wasn't a bad egg... it was hundreds who left messages... actually took the time to call the guys business. Would any IU fans do that... yes, I do believe we are infected with bad eggs, but the vitriol from UK fans I have actually witnessed exceeds anything I've seen from Hoosier fans or at AH. And bear in mind the "anecdotal" evidence you are referring to took 80 hours to review by a Sheriff.

Here's a segment of the linked article:

"in the two days after Kentucky’s loss, Higgins’ office received 3,000 phone calls, most of which were from Kentucky area codes, and the business’ voicemail system crashed, according to the lawsuit.

The business was deluged with negative online reviews, and fake reports were filed with the Better Business Bureau against Weatherguard under the names Calipari John and Adolph Rupp.

The lawsuit says the company had to take its Facebook page down because of 700 “false posts.”

And the family had to cancel their home telephone service because of death threats, the lawsuit says.

and here's another article that describes the investigation:

https://www.wkyt.com/content/news/Vulgar-messages-released--426052764.html

Again, don't you think that rises above "a few bad eggs"?

Read the article. It wasn't a bad egg

Read my post. I didn't use the term in the singular form.

... it was hundreds who left messages... actually took the time to call the guys business.

Yep. Despicable. As I said, I'm familiar with the story.

Would any IU fans do that

Maybe. I'm not nearly as confident as you are that we're immune to that kind of rageful zealotry. People are people.

Quite frankly, I just wish we could get ourselves into games that mattered so much -- not, of course, that I'd ever advocate this kind of behavior.

... yes, I do believe we are infected with bad eggs, but the vitriol from UK fans I have actually witnessed exceeds anything I've seen from Hoosier fans or at AH.

Once again...are we talking *numbers* or are we talking *severity of actions*? They're two different things. You seem to be conflating them.

And bear in mind the "anecdotal" evidence you are referring to took 80 hours to review by a Sheriff.

The reason it's anecdotal (as regards the number of UK fans who cross the line) is because it's based on a relatively small set of people (those who made threatening contact with Higgins) within a much larger set (good ol' BBN at large).

What happened with Higgins DOES NOT prove that, as compared to a typical team's fanbase, a higher percentage of UK fans are line-crossers. That may be the case. But this incident isn't informative so far as that goes.

"in the two days after Kentucky’s loss, Higgins’ office received 3,000 phone calls, most of which were from Kentucky area codes, and the business’ voicemail system crashed

How many unique people were behind those 3,000 calls? I'd bet good money it wasn't 3,000.

Again, don't you think that rises above "a few bad eggs"?

No. The number of UK basketball fans almost certainly numbers well into 7 figures -- maybe even closer to 8. Whatever the level of egregiousness of the actions regarding Higgins (and I absolutely agree that what happened rose pretty high on the egregious scale), the number of people responsible for this represented a small percentage of UK fans.

Now, I have no idea about the veracity of the stories told by UK fans who came to Assembly Hall and felt threatened and/or harassed. But let's suppose the stories are true. What does that say about "IU fans"? Well, nothing really....other than that we have our share of rude people who let their emotions get the better of their sense of basic civility. Yet, when you hear some UK folks talk about it, they tend to extrapolate those incidents into "IU fans are a$$holes!!"

Well, no. The IU fans who harassed UK fans at AH might be a$$holes. But what they did says nothing about all the rest of us.
