Scott is the man! I didn't think it was possible to get this done during the season and I was dead wrong. Great news!!!

I don't see any contract details out there yet.
I figured 9.5-10 million. Great job Scott.
Hopefully the raise for assistant coaches will be enough to keep the staff in place.
Been on X checking receipts. He was going to FSU/Florida book it. 😉🤣"Indiana University and IU Head Football Coach Curt Cignetti have agreed to terms on a new eight-year contract with an average annual compensation of $8 million, as well as an additional annual $1 million retention bonus. Cignetti's new contract runs thru Nov. 30, 2032."

And for Baldwin's recruitment.Awesome news. Stops all the “won’t be long ‘til one of the big boy schools grabs him” talk. WE are the big boys now!
More importantly, this is big for recruiting.
Go Hoosiers!

I'm fine with the incentive being "here's a huge pile of mostly guaranteed cash, so you and your guys can keep doing what you love, for Indiana."I said this before, but if I am Scott the deal is structured with massive incentives for all coaches and does not get us into another untenable buy out position.
5th in the B1G. 15th in nation.Where exactly would the new salary put him among top paid head coaches? This is excellent!
I bet a few were sniffing around. There is always a risk when you sign someone up to a big contract that probably has a big buyout. But the risk/reward here looks pretty good and it made sense to go for it.
And really not very far off from the top-10.5th in the B1G. 15th in nation.
It’s only an untenable buyout when you want to fire the guy. If they’re successful, it’s the necessary poison pill to keep them from being poached.I said this before, but if I am Scott the deal is structured with massive incentives for all coaches and does not get us into another untenable buy out position.
Ya gotta believe. It’s only an untenable buyout when you want to fire the guy. If they’re successful, it’s the necessary poison pill to keep them from being poached.
Damned if you do/don’t if you’re an AD.
With the retention bonus it’s top 7-8. Depending how it’s structured I’d assume. And really not very far off from the top-10.
One article I read said there were massive increases for the staff plus promises the 'structure' would continue to be improved on.I said this before, but if I am Scott the deal is structured with massive incentives for all coaches and does not get us into another untenable buy out position.

The question of how much Cig owes if he resigns and how much IU pays if they fire him are two separate contract terms. One doesn't technically have much to do with the other. It’s only an untenable buyout when you want to fire the guy. $4.5 million salary, $250k retention bonus. The question of how much Cig owes if he resigns and how much IU pays if they fire him are two separate contract terms. One doesn't technically have much to do with the other.
Interested to know how those terms changed in the new agreement. Since it appears we are paying him about 9 million a year, I assume both numbers went up significantly, but I don't know where they were before.
Oh I meant the buyouts.$4.5 million salary, $250k retention bonus.
