Chicago Bears/NFL fans? What should they do?

So the Bears got their man in Ben Johnson. They don’t usually go for the new shiny toy, that’s an exciting change of philosophy. I still think Poles should’ve been fired. His drafts continue to look worse and worse.

Everyone knew Jalen Carter was best player left on the board in 2023. We went Darnell Wright, who is good. Carter looks like a future HOF’er. Punter in the 4th last year. A lineman who didn’t play all year in the 3rd. Not good enough.

Agreed on all counts.

I’m skeptical of anything they do, but I’m pleased with Johnson and his DC coach, Allan, who has HC exp.

You left out one thing: Poles effectively passed on Stroud, Daniel’s, and Maye. For a guy whose ceiling is probably Russell Wilson.

That's where this thread started...and I'd take "good Russell Wilson" for 6-8 years...if he's surrounded by a championship level roster, like Wilson was for that stretch with Seattle.

Poles chose the "easiest" of what were, at the time, a handful of good choices. I don't think he chose the "best" option though, which would have been quite a lot more difficult to manage through...which was trading the top pick down a spot or two and taking either Daniels or Maye.

I still think Williams can be a very, very good franchise QB for Chicago. He survived a really rough season, put up good overall numbers, and didn't implode. So I'm actually very excited about what he and Johnson can do together.

If Johnson is as good as he seems to be...and if Poles and everyone else is on board giving him the influence and input I'm sure he demanded... then maybe taking Williams, not bolstering the line, and having a crap season will end up being better for the Bears in the long run.

The Bears have some good foundational pieces. They need a rebuild of the offensive line but they have a couple players to start with. They need depth at most positions. It is not impossible for them to be a wild card team next year. The NFC North performance in the playoffs was very poor. The Bears beat the Packers this year, and lost 3 division games by 3 or less. However, we are talking about the worst run franchise in the NFL so I am not going to get too excited.

Yo tbone do an old man a solid and share some of the psychedelics you've been ingesting with Ol Sluggo

As they say in Green Bay The Bears Still Suck and you can take that to the bank

Jordan Love is mediocre bro. You know it. Daniel Jones is taking over the Vikings QB job next year. The Lions will still be good when they get their defense healthy but they are starting over with position coaches. Facts are facts.
