What do you think.

This is the must win game … a team we expected to beat. Terps are on a 3 game losing streak.
The team that picks itself up from the prior week’s loss should win.

IU CBs must out dual Terp replacement WRs and get the D off the field v. Taulia Tagovailoa
- I don’t think the Terp replacements will be as good as MSU’s starters. CBs played well v. MSU.

DL / Front seven must pressure Taulia Tagovailoa into some turnovers.
- Terp OL won’t be able to execute tOSU solution to IU defense: It will be the 6th best P5 OL so far this year.
- Front seven has seen tougher tests than 93rd ranked rushing attack at 4.00 ypc and 128 ypg.

OL must hold up v. Terp DL which has some success with sacks.
- Ideally running at them and besting the 75th ranked Terp rushing defense at 4.11 ypc and 154.9 ypg.

IU again was scheduled as intended Homecoming victim.
Stats. Say this is a team we should compete with.

Go IU.

We need to score points. That said, It's tough to predict what's going to happen without knowing who's available at QB and who's starting at that position.

With all due respect, I think the must-win game was Michigan State. It's still important, though (for recruiting, and momentum heading into 2022) to finish this season strong, so for that reason the Maryland game and the four that follow are meaningful. If we can somehow win four of the final five, we'll play in a bowl and sign an impressive group of recruits. That kind of a finish is hard to fathom, though, given our season-long offensive woes.

I just do not think we can score 26 points with McCulley. We have not scored that many this year with either of our top 2 QB’s against a decent team. Now we are going to do it with our 3rd stringer, creating an offense for him in a week, on the road, against a decent team, on Homecoming? Just not seeing it. Unless the D goes Hawkeye with 2 pick 6’s.

We need to run the ball effectively. Maybe We should try what Illinois did at Penn State. put Seven offensive Linemen toe to toe on the lime of scrimmage with one tight end in the slot or on the Wing, and one wide receiver. Illinois won that game with only 30 yards of passing yardage.
I don’t expect a shred of offensive creativity from this staff. So, when Nick DeBord Jr. starts repeatedly handing the ball off with 1/2 yard dive plays into the interior of the line, don’t be too shocked.

That is the problem with this board everyone thinks wins and losses revolve around the run game and our defense minded head coach thinks same way. Take the hand cuffs off and stop worrying about the run game. We threw it 50 times against MSU a good defense let’s do the same against a not as good defense and see if we can break out. If come out and try to run run run then I am going to start questioning everything about this staff top to bottom, Stop worrying about defense stats and worry about wins.

Do what it takes to win the game -run or pass. IU's offense needs to show up in ways they haven't so far. IU does need to run more formations to get the running game going. If McCulley is the QB IU should go with two or three TEs because they will need a very good running game to win against Maryland with McCulley at QB. You have to run what you can block and two TEs still gives you a good passing formation but helps with pass pro instead of just accepting that it is all about individual breakdowns instead of creating a formation that helps the blocking.

Our offense is actually not completely terrible when the O-line is able to hold up at the LOS. This is the weakest defensive front since WKU and I expect to see us lean heavily on the run. Indiana will probably come out with a chip on their shoulder after last week, they've got to be hungry for a win, and Maryland is also the weakest opponent they've played since WKU. I don't think Maryland scores more than 21 on our defense and I think our offense gets to between 24-27. I've got IU close but I absolutely love the moneyline here at +186 the last time I checked. Indiana can definitely lose this game, I wouldn't bet on them if the moneyline were even but +186 is just too good of a value against a team that's not more talented than Indiana.

Just as in past 2 wins and 5 losses. LOS is paramount. 2nd is RZ proficiency/efficiency. 3rd IUD needs turnovers, preferably pick 6. ST's no letdowns. When McCulley plays use his wheels to an advantage, rollouts with lots of blocking protection. Let Gremmel stand in the pocket. Hope Jack is 1000%. How's that for talking out all 4 sides of my mouth. There is so much offensively to clean up and establish I couldn't help myself.
Go HOOSIERS!! POTMFB!!!

I went back and looked at the stats from the Michigan State game. You are correct, We threw the ball 50 times. However, We had only 188 passing yards. That is less than 4 Yards per attempt. Steven Carr had 8 of those catches and there were a couple more by reserve backs. This tells Me that We are not having Success throwing the ball downfield and using the Short Passing game as a substitute for the running game We can't generate.

I don't care whether We run or pass to win a game. But You can't win games averaging less than 4 yards per pass attempt.

Well, technically you don't have to get more than 2.5 yards per play. Just make sure you never get less than 2.5 yards :)

Yeah,if you are Navy and going for it on 4th down every time it is less than 4 yards for first down and You have a Wishbone or veer Offense and You are Trying to shorten the game so your Opponent only gets 7 Possessions per game rather than the 12 or 13 You would expect in a normal game.

Yes, I was so irate in that Navy game that I nearly broke some things in the house. All we needed was a stop late in the game to win, and Navy kept getting first downs on the fourth down attempts. It almost equaled my anger to the time when Michigan scored on the last play of the game to tie us, and then beat us in OT.

Coach Allen was like a fish out of water in this week’ press conference try to talk about the offensive line problems. He was so discombobulated he could not put together a coherent sentence. No exaggeration.

I'd only add a couple of words to those first 5. We need to score MORE points than Maryland. That will be the challenge with a toothless offense at this point.
