I used to have cats, but have no basement for a litter box and I can’t handle them. I tried unsuccessfully to train mine to use toilet. Got the special kit and everything.

I totally agree, people will defend them . I have had friends that had them was always wary. That is one breed that would be no loss to the world if went extinct. I just don't get it as so many other breeds out there why people seem to think tempting fate is cute

I have had three golden retrievers and two were the best dogs I have ever known. I work with my dog to not bark at other people but it he sees them as bad he still does just to them. He loves people and could do without dogs if it were up to him. Golden are smart, kind, and caring about people and I consider them the best dogs to have.
Post of the year. Goldens are the ultimate dogs. Friendly, loyal, smart, mischievous, rambunctious, corny, goofy, protective and heart-breakingly unforgettable when they pass. I’d give everything I have and more if their prevalence for cancer could be overcome.
I’ve been convinced. I have two friends with rescued pits who are the gentlest and sweetest dogs ever. But I also have a friend who just last month rescued an older one. It killed her cat while she was gone. I would never ever have one around children or another pet. That should be stipulation for the ones in rescue as they let the breed die out.
And Rottweilers.
I had a veterinarian as a client who had a Rottweiler. The dog attacked their 4-year-old daughter, who'd grown up with the dog.

It tore her scalp almost completely off and she had huge chunks of flesh torn from her arms and legs. She barely lived. If some women hadn't driven her car across the field to help, she would have been dead. And this is a road that has very, very, very little traffic. It was truly a miracle this woman showed up when she was needed.
I've heard how gentle and calm these dogs can be, and I believe the people when they say their pets are like that. But I wouldn't trust one of them a bit to remain like that if circumstances set them off. They're bred to kill.
