Can Sean Miller Survive College BB Corruption Trial

Regardless of whether the NCAA can get to him, you'd think that AZ would want to get ahead of this and cut these guys loose. But, digging in the heels seems to work fro these programs.

Thing is, they don't have Miller or Ayton saying anything. They just have Dawkins and Richardson running their mouths about him...like idiots.

It will be interesting to see if Richardson, Alkins, Trier, or Ayton cooperate with an NCAA investigation. Seems unlikely.

Will Wade's thing is worse and LSU just reinstated him. That's wild. Maybe the NCAA is about to be abolished, I dunno. That one makes no sense.

Question is what can be proven.

Tapes seem pretty damaging. But I could see the words on there argued as heresay UNLESS there’s a paper trail somewhere.

Hearsay doesn't apply if Wade's actually on the tape, talking about his "strong ass offer." I haven't heard the tape, but I can't imagine how he explained that away...

True - that why I said “what can be proven”.

I have no doubt he’s guilty as hell , but what threshold of proof is required - from a legal or NCAA standpoint? Learned a long time ago that what’s right, what’s wrong and what the law is can be 3 totally separate things. This ought to get interesting before it’s all over.

In an administrative hearing, like an NCAA investigation, the rules of evidence are less restrictive when compared to a criminal trial.

I can't believe Sean Miller will survive this off-season as Arizona coach. More damaging information coming out in today's trial proceeding. It's evident that he was involved in paying players.

I believe he will survive without question. His school is standing behind him and not throwing him under the bus. He recruits big time players and the NCAA will do nothing to him. So unless he is criminally prosecuted he will be at Arizona for a long time.

Stong ass offer - could be ‘a starting spot, great housing situation, and no classes ater December grades’...
Guaranteed starting position is a strong ass offer.

Thats what Id say.

Just do a tiny bit of research. The team was a mess off the court.
I am well aware of everything that was going on with the team. Drugs, bad grades, etc. Arizona is a mess also and so is LSU. I am still waiting for them to fire their coaches.

What? Sampson’s infractions were about as minor as you can get.

Oh, I agree it was minor but he did break the rules. Twice. Should IU have fired him? Probably not.

Whether you liked sampson or what what he did is childs play compared to the current stuff. If you cannot agree with that then well I guess your just blinded by sampson hate.

Sorry, I thought he was a great coach. No hate at all.

Right...except that's not all Wade said. He also said that the handler wasn't taking it to the kid because it was slanted too much toward the kid's family, and away from the handler.

That's not about playing time...

He is, but one of techniques was finding recruits with a reputation for trouble and functioning as a father figure for them. Not so bad giving people second chances, but a whole team of them? I was stunned about the recruit who had been banned for nearly two years because he shoved a referee. We want someone like that on the team? But as least the only thing Eli Holman did was throw a potted plant.
Next year he signed Bud MacKey, who never stepped foot on campus because he had been arrested for drug trafficking.

opening a can of worms here. there's plenty of posters here in favor of bribing players to come play at indiana, like org and paterade, and some others

You talking about the Watfords as if they take bribes somehow equates to me being in favor taking payments...... Learn to read.

Good luck trying to get any top talent without baggage from shoe companies now a days. Guess we should just recruit Blooming South and North. What do you think there is a huge conversation about paying players. Third parties have taken over the best players every year.

You’d think the IRS would be getting involved with all the unreported income with the big time recruits and their families. We are talking about 6 figure money. Now that may never be public but you would think this would become a real fear with all that is being reported.

of course. then wade refused to meet with his boss for over a month. boss rolls over. that's so lsu. as bobby knight once said, "any high school player considering playing for a known cheater has no business coming to indiana". i'm looking at you trendon watford

mackey is in prison, isn't he?

I still think he may survive unless there is a paper or wire trail. It will be one word vs Miller who will deny it. If the school sticks by him the NCAA will take a pass on this.

In a phone call that was intercepted by the FBI, former Arizona associate head coach Emanuel ‘Book’ Richardson told former runner and basketball middleman Christian Dawkins that Arizona head coach Sean Miller had agreed to pay, and possibly already was paying, $10,000 a month for Deandre Ayton, the first pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
