JFC. It’s this bullshit line of thinking put Sleepy Mike in charge. The only way to have Calbert coach the team is to fire Woodson once this years record is too bad to make the tournament. Then Calbert could finish the year and IU could hop on the coach carrousel first.

Nope. Top 5 IU all time legend, but this is not an entry level job. Hire a proven winner who can deliver on expectations to compete every year for a title the way Duke, Kentucky, MSU, Gonzaga, Kansas and UNC do. Don’t settle or make an emotional hiring decision - IU has done this twice with Davis and Woody.

As an Evansville guy who has been acquainted with Calbert since he was in HS, he’s the person you’d think he is.

But, as genuinely great a person as he is and as great a player as he was, I don’t think he has the temperament to be a successful head coach.

I’ve watched him on tv, watched him play his entire college career, many of those in person, met him twice, have read as much as anyone else about him, my cousin attended HS with him at Harrison in Evansville and guess what ass-hat? Van is spot on

Myself as well. I've had probably 10 or so run ins with him and 100% good guy all around. I used to work with one of his cousins and the stories he told me definately proved that.
