First of all, you do not know what transpired with Swanigan.
What happened to him is tragic. I am very saddened by this news. However, we must remember that Caleb Swanigan was an adult. The law judges him to be capable of making his own decisions. Do I believe that those were good decisions? Not for a minute do I think so. However, they were his to make.
It is quite possible people from Purdue, Barnes, friends, former teammates. etc. did reach out to him and try to persuade him to lose weight, live healthier, etc. and they were rejected. Do I know that this is true? I do not, but it would not surprise me if those close to him attempted to advise him and were rebuffed.
Unfortunately, people make serious mistakes in their lives that those around them are unable to prevent and which have terrible consequences. Caleb Swanigan is a sad example.
You are ready to blame in a totally classless manner those who you perceived as failing when they could only advise but not compell. At the end of the day, Swanigan could do what he wanted. His health was part of a recent sequence of bad decisions. You blame those who had no control and do so unfairly. Which is par for the course for you.
