Pretty much has to be. With the portal and NIL, you no longer need years to put a team together. If you haven't shown something by year 2, year 3 should be hot seat time.

Most of us have watched basketball our entire lives and over the course of a season can see if well coached and if players are busting ass to win. Texas Tech had a big game yesterday and won even though their best player and coach were booted by the refs. It was so clear his players were going 100% out for the win.
Their defense sucks, #89. Will be their downfall this year. Hopefully they get a high seed and get thumped by 14 or 15.

You'd have to be of a certain age to have experienced something like that anyway. Keep your eyes up and don't say "nice watch" to anyone bigger than you.
Yes, clearly if the coach is coaching with intensity and the team plays with intensity and makes good decisions, etc. and in most ways is playing to their potential, that should be apparent and by year two with Portal and NIL the coach should have found at least a few players who are really suited to what he wants to do and are contributing.
