Brooks

Parents also have to know that rival trolls are also masquerading as IU fans saying bad things about players and coaches just to stir the pot. Dont read any more into the twitter and blog posts. This team has defeated Marquette, Louisville, and Michigsn State. It's not the coaches. Next season will be one step closer to a team of all-Archie recruits.
Go anywhere in indiana and bring up IUBB and people will call for him to be fired. It’s a complete dumpster fire. It’s not just message boards.

It wasn't about being to mean but they are bothered by the fact that the fans want Archie gone and are afraid that there might be a coaching change
If he comes to IU it’s obviously not because of Archie’s high powered system. He’d be coming for external factors.

I feel bad for TJD as well. We should do the right thing and let him out of his LOI

If he comes that's three straight Indiana five stars that we had no shot at two years ago.

That's your platform. Coaching doesn't matter just be the best flesh peddler and roll the ball out there and watch their special talent overwhelm everyone.

So why aren't you happy?

He is part of the world that needs instant gratification. One of those weak minds whose personal wealth is determined with how his sports team is currently performing. So sad. Probably the saddest.

It will take Archie time, but I still think he turns it around. Let him get his own players in there that haven’t been creaned. He’s a good coach and trying to rebuild a train wreck. It doesn’t happen overnight. I think brooks is yours to lose. I think unc is where he goes only if he has lost all faith in Indiana.

A guy on another site who coaches high school basketball in the state said the reason for Brooks holding off committing is there is a lot of negative recruiting going on. He also indicated that most of it surrounds the family not liking how the fans are calling for Archie head already and does not want any of the coaches not being there when Brooks is there. I know some of you won't believe this but I firmly believes that the fans anger towards coaching can have an negative effect on recruiting.

Let me guess, is it CoachSS most likely?

Every fanbase has their super secret insiders that love to be worshipped and viewed as a special person because they just know so much more than the rest of us (take Fpeaugh and make him a unicorn instead of a troll).

He's been calling Brooks all year. First it was commiting in December, than January and now it's don't worry it will be when his season ends in February.

So he has to come up with some logic like the Millerites in the 1800's predicting the exact day the heavens would open up and take God's chosen people to heaven, and constantly recalculating when it didn't happen (see the opening season 3 sequence of the 3rd season of the Leftovers) and...

He needs a reason why he's been wrong. This sounds as good as any right?

Unless they are hearing about coaches being fired by Archie or Glass...they aren't this stupid.

With the standard you have set, John Beilein, Tony Bennett, Coach K would all have been fired from their current schools. If IU followed the protocol you seem to be suggesting, we would end up with 1 of 2 coaches:

Rick Pitino
-or-
Steve Alford

I do not believe you at all. Everyone knows Archie will be here next year.

Nope , not him

I don’t know the kid.

But I can tell you he’s not sitting at home telling himself...”wow, that’s the system I want to play in”
90% of kids committing to anywhere is the relationship with the coaching staff - not only the head coach, but to the assistants as well.

I know you'll disagree with me, but Archie's system won't be the reason we get / don't get KBJr. Relationships will.

They don't idiot!!! And if they did, we wouldn't want them!!!!!
Hey idiot, your post doesn't make sense. "They don't" have Twitter? You are very wrong if that is what you meant.

If IU fans having high expectations bothers him, then he can just go somewhere else. I also find it laughable that he would commit to North Carolina, Michigan State, or Kentucky just because of the IU fans being too "mean". If one of those schools missed the tournament for 3 straight years like we are about to, their fans would be every bit as pissed. Kentucky fans would riot in the streets and North Carolina fans would just stop showing up.

IU fans have a right to be pissed about the way this team is playing right now. Bottom line, if he commits somewhere else it won't be the fans fault. Maybe he just doesn't want to play in an offense that scores in the 50s every home game.

AND ANOTHER THING (lol).......................If he thinks he's good enough, and his buddy is good enough, and Franklin is good enough, and the coaching staff is good enough, when he comes we won't repeat another 4 win BT season in 2019-20. If so, then he doesn't need to worry about the fans.

He sees himself as one & done. The logical concerns he could have are :whether Smith & Green will still be here next year and, if so, will there be 'chemistry' problems again; and whether Davis & Hunter will return. Those are the questions I'd want answered if he were my kid.

I am not the one that is saying this but it is coming from people who are close to Brooks. I guess if you don't missing on a top in state player because of how some idiot fans can't be rational.

If they don't hang out on this board, they won't see all that much vitriol. Despite 2,500 students not showing up which has a been a problem for 5 years, the fans at the games are not screaming at him and many threads you see on Facebook, Twitter and other mediums are nothing like this cesspool created by Ordfan.

He said Crean was an elite coach so there is that.
Never said one time he was an elite coach because he wasn't.. I called for his firing after all of the off the court stuff going on as well after the Duke. After he was not fired I backed him like I will do with any coach we have. I did not like how he coached but what I did not care for is when fans take it to a personal level against a coach or a player so I will defend them.

My uncle in southern Indiana used to text me five or six times each game. I have not gotten a text from him since I think the Purdue game. Things are not good at all.

Yeh, I've read he and TJD want to play together. For all I know that is rumor also. I expect Brooks will base his decision off discussions with Archie and he maybe he has contacts with other players on the team. Maybe once he can't make up his after those discussions then maybe he be swayed by fans but doubtful. If TJD decommits then I'll be concerned.

1 good player per year isn’t getting it done. That’s what LSU or Texas gets. We need 3-5 top players per class. Been saying it for years.

You must not have the ability to understand the programs those coaches took over compared to what Archie took over. If that’s not obvious then I can’t help you.

This same excuse is why Crean got 9 years...
“Well look at these two guys who started slow and picked it up while ignoring the 500 others who didn’t.” Great logic.

Man, lower end schools must be terrible at building relationships then. The system has nothing to do with how Duke, UK, Kansas, etc recruit each year I guess. Just a big coincidence with how good they are with relationships.

Just HOW do you think Duke, UK & Kansas recruit? You don't think those schools - more importantly, coaches - get the kids they do because of the RELATIONSHIPS they build with the recruits and their families? The trust developed that going to play for a certain coach will be the best situation for them?

If you don't believe that, you're a bigger idiot than you've shown yourself to be on this board.

It's a chicken or egg thing. Are those schools successful because the Coaching staffs are great relationship builders and kids want to play for them? Yes.

Do a lot of kids want to play for those schools in large part because they're successful? Also yes.

A large part of this business is recruiting and it helps when you have guys like Self, Roy, Cal, and K(less so) who you could all see yourself grabbing a beer with.

No one wants to grab a beer with Crean.

BS, just $%^&ing BS, if anything his family would probably care more to know that his time here won't be wasted and fans do care about winning. Give this crap line up.
It doesn't matter. He's already stated he's a one and done player because his family is struggling. He's going to go to where he can get to the NBA after one year. I get why he doesn't want to come here and it's because of all the whining little babies on here.

That's quite literally impossible. He's a bitter, senile old fart that should be ignored.

why did you save this intel until now? Call the BOT. Let's get this done for Bailey and his texting relationship with his uncle. :)

i miss the times me and my uncle used to ride to south Colorado, west Texas bound...

As a frequent observer & rare poster..... um..... there’re some folks on here that really need a beer. I graduated in 1993 so was able to experience the end of the glory days. I saw Calbert set the Big 10 scoring record live in person. I am passionate & love IUBB. But seriously? Where’s the love, people?

How come you never use examples of people like Kevin Stallings or Todd Lickliter who flamed out in a few years? It is always the few who made it.
