Cal steals another from IU. Lyles and now Brooks. Sucks, I thought Brooks might choose IU because of lots of playing time. Kentucky is loaded at wing

Well shoot - That’s now 0-2 with only one more to go for a really lousy stretch of IU basketball...one best forgotten. All we really ask for is hope.

Hey bailey 777..
Anytime Tom Crean isn't on the IU sidelines.
There's momentum..imo
Get a GOOD transfer ..Preferably a 6'10 banger.

In a year, Mr. Brooks might not be happy when his son is not getting the PT he expected or being featured as expected
So you’re saying we’ll get vengeance before all is said and done, perhaps sending Mr Brooks viscous taunts of, “We told you so!”? Justice will be served when his head bows in remorse. I’m sorry, but he played us. He taunted us with his dramatic countdown, playing us for the fools he knew we were to be. This one hurts like the end result of the Montross drama Scott created for his son’s announcment at LN HS. Time to move on, taking the sheep to a greener pasture we think lies just beyond that snow capped mountain range promised through the fog. Done with it and disappointed but not down and out for the count. We carry on, chopping wood and carrying water along the way.

This was Kyrie Irving all over again.

UK has the best pipe line to the NBA, they want to maintain
at least an eight man deep squad at all times. So when Calipari goes
to the bench for replacements, talent can be inserted with equal ability.
Quade Green who lost his job earlier this season did not buy into
this plan and transfered. Brooks did and he will prosper.

He could have been a big fish in a small pond. Now he will be swallowed up by the Kentucky hype. He is not elite enough to stand out among their other one and done.
Kentucky did their homework on Keion, Brooks will meet the challenge
and Calipari is not going to blow this Indiana recruiting advantage
that he has. Teague and Lyles from Indianapolis were two of our best
that UK inked.

Yep and brooks waited them out. We were never a serious player unless kentucky got the guys above brooks.

I get the feeling brooks is going pro after one year no matter what. He wont transfer and sit out.

Mr Brooks called it, “Time to be selfish!”
I think it should have been clear when when Brooks left Ft. Wayne North to go to a prestigious academic school like LaLumire what his agenda is. The question is what type of player do you want on your team? I don’t think a “one and done” like Brooks would ultimately help rebuild IU. His only goal is to get to the NBA. Our past history with convinces me that there are no short cuts to building a solid, sustainable, top tier program. You have got to recruit kids who will commit to your philosophy and who will are willingly to put the time in to accomplish the goals you set.

I do not criticize the Brooks of the basketball world. They have their own agendas and are free to carry them out. But, I certainly would not count on one to help rebuild our program. Do you really want a kid with a “it’s time to be selfish” mantra to be on your team? You may, I don’t.

I get it now, we really didn't want him anyway, did we? One way or the other, you need to have good players. Good players come with stars of higher numbers. Lower quality players can be good players, too, it just takes more time before being able to benefit from their development. 5* recruits add prestige to the program, creating the perception (real or imagined) of being the kind of program all college basketball fans covet...a "blue blood" program. Isn't that what it is all about....image? Say what you want, but believe me, Purdue fans were relieved when Brooks made his announcement for the other team.

I thought his transfer to LaLumire was a bad sign. After that, my enthusiasm for him became tempered. I totally agree that a teams needs good players to build a program. However, I don’t support a “Kentucky model” for IU. I know it is easier to build a program with 5*s. However, I feel the program will be better served by developing players who are actually committed to playing for IU and not kids that see it as an inconvenience in their way to the NBA.

Your Developing Players Model of Winning College Basketball takes time to implement effectively. It's been 25 years now and...
