As disappointed as I am right now, I can’t help but feel really good about the 2024 Indiana football team.

To think where we have come from in the last year is simply incredible.

We won 11 games.

We won 8 B1G games.

We won both our trophy games.

We had four straight sellouts.

We had College Gameday on campus.

We had multiple All-B1G and All-American selections.

Our coach was the unanimous coach of the year.

We reportedly have $13 million plus in NIL.

Cignetti maxed out the talent on this team. We were good but not elite.

We will become elite.

For myself, it’s been a huge distraction to some pretty serious stuff. I’m dealing with bladder cancer and have a PET scan on Christmas Eve to see if I have more going on. I’m raising a 16 year old disabled child that is exhausting. This season has brought so much joy to my life and given me something to look forward to every week. I’m so very thankful for Indiana football.

Great post. You are an awesome person and I am sure there are others as like you.

Brighter days? I don’t think we should take this for granted. I’m not sure 11-2, and a trip to the CFP, happens again in my lifetime.

You know what else never happens in your lifetime? A Finsl Four. You are one of these basketball only guys who is always touting the potential of Bigfoot as he continually shits the bed.

The thing I’ve learned about this game is that IU lacks top speed! Speed in all facets! Rourke is too slow, IU def was too slow on closeouts/missed tackles, and giving up too much space on short passes, etc. Aside from the pathetic punter, the real IU showed up tonight! This program is not ready for the biggest stage! CCC talks a big game, but has never won more than a minor league bowl game! It will never change until IU can compete with the big schools for the top 4-5* talents! Cig cant keep scheduling cupcakes to keep the status quo either! Things like scheme and game prep need changed asap!

Heartfelt post😥You're obviously a dedicated spirited IU fan, but more importantly, a compassionate caring person. Sending my prayers, positive vibes and best wishes for a cancer-free upcoming scan and a complete healing process.

I'm disappointed with the outcome tonight, but I watched to the very end. It was a great season and I'll see you on here next year. Go Hoosiers🏈👍

The thing I’ve learned
is nothing. Yes, IU is 2* 3* and it showed vs. 4* 5* tonight but for me, I'll take the team we have. They fought above their weight class and did as much as any team out there. Yes, we had some easy games and we won them all biggly. We never played worse than our ability which is more than can be said about Bama, Dames, etc.... That's what should be learned . That and that Cig does not create IU's schedule.

Yeah, not every high ranked player becomes a beast, but the odds are a lot better.

IU has had plenty of 4 stars that were whiffs.

I really appreciate this post! Thanks for describing my Hoosier perspective so well right now. And, as one who did a similar "cancer thing" six years ago I'll be putting up some prayers for healing for you as we look to next year! Never daunted, you got this!

Good post. Too many positives to be celebrated to stay down about this result.

My neighbor beat it, and has been healthy for 7-8 years. I know the treatments are tough , but you are too.
I will put you on my Church and Legion Prayer List.
All the Best!

At the beginning of the year, most everyone would have been happy with a bowl game after what we had been through and here we were, in the God damn college football playoffs.

Yesterday didn't go as we hoped, but nobody can take away we were in the first 12 team playoff.

Cig and company now turn to the portal where they try and not just replace good players were losing, but upgrade those players. Cig turned around this 3 win program in one year...I've got faith he won't lose any steam going forward.

The future is bright.

This season might be the brightest of all days for IU fans, but I agree that brighter days are ahead in terms of being more consistently like Iowa or Wisky (before Fickel) and winning 8 to 10 games a season, and being very competitive with the B10 elites. I’m 67 years old and honestly never thought IU could be in this position, so yes, there are brighter days ahead.

A 9-2 regular season team may up being better..
Say we loose by 3 at a Michigan and Oregon..
That team as a 12 seed could get in the playoff. And go on a run..I can only hope we get more 4/5 star guys. With better backups...

It was a weird game. Take away that 98yd rush and ND wouldve been held to 95 rushing yards on 34 carries, 2.7ypc. So you'd think they passed more but Rourke had more passing yards and TDs than Riley. They just beat us methodically somehow.

Yeah, but ND pretty well owned the line of scrimmage on both sides. And their DBs took away the separation our slower receivers got all year. Too much talent too deep. Cig will get us there but it may take a little bit of higher level recruiting to be in this class.m

Oh there are no questions about it. I'm just saying the statline was strange considering how dominant they were.

You are oblivious to 2024, Cignetti and the program.
1 fart you need the scent of, the schedule was set before HC and staff got here. You need to re-examine the direction of your thinking or I'll embarrass you some more.

Some people have a hard time grasping that.
We finish 11-2 and people are bitching, imagine that. The guy has been on the job for exactly one year good grief.

There were some poorly thrown passes by Leonard that his receivers made great catches on to keep a drive going. They also got a 49 yard field goal by a kicker who went 8/18 this year
