damn good point guardAfter reading all the arguments here about him, I’m finally able to watch him. I think he looks really good. He definitely controls that team.
What did he do in the previous two games?Tonight he scores 20 pts, 6/8 from the field, 3/4 from 3, 5/6 FT, 3A 2TO
not too bad for non-B1G player.
Beat the team picked to finish 9th in the Big East, run to the IU board.Tonight he scores 20 pts, 6/8 from the field, 3/4 from 3, 5/6 FT, 3A 2TO
not too bad for non-B1G player.
Win game against marginal opponent,Tonight he scores 20 pts, 6/8 from the field, 3/4 from 3, 5/6 FT, 3A 2TO

Smith won't be the first player that wanted to play for IU that ended up giving us fits.Smith will be a pain in IU side for the next four years. Cupps and Smith will be a very entertaining matchup when it happens.
Beat marginal opponent, run to IU board.Big game Braden has arrived!!!
if Cupps is as good as smith, I'd be happySmith will be a pain in IU side for the next four years. Cupps and Smith will be a very entertaining matchup when it happens.
Haven't seen either one of them play yet, but I'll take your word for it.if Cupps is as good as smith, I'd be happy
Solid for stretches. Not solid for some. Marquettes PG took it to him for a while. He’s disruptive defensively, but he can be exposed by bigger, more physical guards(like IUs).Tonight he scores 20 pts, 6/8 from the field, 3/4 from 3, 5/6 FT, 3A 2TO
not too bad for non-B1G player.
Got absolutely torched on defense. Not surprisingly you have this one wrong. I mean you still think Romeo was a bad freshman guard in the Big Ten.B1GFAN says not so. Ha!!!
At times he did. Made some big defensive plays in the last run that put them ahead though. But that’ll for sure be something opposing teams with good, big guards will try to exploit.Got absolutely torched on defense. Not surprisingly you have this one wrong. Talked shit to any of your players’ parents recently, or is Nojel’s mom the only one?
Your bias is showing again. Marquette starting jacking up 3s. He made very few if any good defensive plays. As with all Purdue PGs, his good nights will be determined by whether or not he shoots well or not.At times he did. Made some big defensive plays in the last run that put them ahead though. But that’ll for sure be something opposing teams with good, big guards will try to exploit.
Ronnie Johnson > Yogi FerrellStill not as good as Ronnie
I never "talked shit" with Ms. Reed. Ms. Reed held a view of her son's talent with which I disagreed and she would never stand for any disagreement with her position. I was trained not to express vulgarity to any woman. Civil disagreement is not "talking shit." I do realize that you probably do not understand thatGot absolutely torched on defense. wait, first your argument was he didn't play anybody and now that he steps up when he does, we're back to talking about the earlier games? What did he do in the previous two games?
In addition telling Ms reed she was wrong about her son., you also trashed two IU players you have never met, but she had known for years through AAU. She called you out for being a douchebag.I never "talked shit" with Ms. Reed. I also observed during the broadcast a still predicting Smith as one of the freshmen likely to make an very positive impact on the B1G this season. But obviously you know more than the journalists covering the conference. The thing is: they get paid for their opinions and you do not. A principle of Economics is that value of anything is what the market will pay for it.
You realize that “still” was from Bardo right? You also realize he purposely left JHS and Reneau off the list so he could promote his podcast to IU fans (the biggest Big Ten basketball fanbase) when they called him out for how atrocious that list is, right? I’m probably giving you too much credit. You aren’t smart enough to see what he did.I never "talked shit" with Ms. Reed. No, my argument is that we are 3 games in and he’s had two mediocre/bad games and one good one. Let the season play out before determining whether or not he was a miss. He got abused on defense last night.wait, first your argument was he didn't play anybody and now that he steps up when he does, we're back to talking about the earlier games?
insult someone's kids... "How to Win Friends and Influence People, the John R Purdue Way!". How much are we paying for your "contributions" here, btw? Sounds like your valuation is right on par!I never "talked shit" with Ms. Reed. OK, so Ms Reed knowing the IU players for years is not as reliable as your expert negative commentary about them.As for my disagreement with Ms. Reed, her apparent views of others are not necessarily correct because she "knows them well." I think we can all recall reading of or viewing a tv report of a serious crime having been committed and when the perpetrator has been apprehended the perp's neighbors and friends state "..I've known him/her for years and I can't believe that he/she did this." But then we find out that he/she did it. So familiarity is no guarantee of accuracy.
I don't think there's much to determine regarding what would have been expected of Smith or if he was a miss; he wasn't a highly rated recruit so what he's doing already, even on a PU roster severely lacking ball-handling and PG skills is already more than what anyone reasonably could have expected out of him as a freshman. I'll take your word for it that he got abused on D last night, but the fact remains he was on the floor to even get abused, so that's already more than what most would have projected for him. I don't really care since he's playing at PU, but I'll always root for IN kids to do well, and he seems to be doing exactly that. Doesn't threaten us or our season at all. BTW, even with 2 "mediocre/bad games" and getting abused on D, they're 3-0.No, my argument is that we are 3 games in and he’s had two mediocre/bad games and one good one. I don't see how you think you can judge this after 2 games against weak competition. We've got a schedule this year that will reveal whether we are relevant nationally or at the top of our conference. Have a little faith and backbone man!Gotta say— after watching both games last night, we are closer to PU than we are to Kansas ( and maybe MSU). We can take UK though.
I never posted that Nojel Eastern was not an asset to the Purdue team. Your statement is a blatant lie, something for which you have been cited on this site for doing in other cases. My disagreement with her was about how much of an asset her son was. She had a very inflated view compared to me.OK, so Ms Reed knowing the IU players for years is not as reliable as your expert negative commentary about them.
And Ms Reed raising her son and watching him develop for 20 years is not as reliable as your expert criticism of him.
And Coach Painter's belief that Nojel could be an asset to his squad is not as reliable as your exppert opinion of him.
Amazing that you don't get paid for this observational brilliance.
He’s the only ball handler on their roster, so of course he’s going to play. Why did Painter go so hard for seemingly every available PG in the portal last year if he was confident in Smith?I don't think there's much to determine regarding what would have been expected of Smith or if he was a miss; he wasn't a highly rated recruit so what he's doing already, even on a PU roster severely lacking ball-handling and PG skills is already more than what anyone reasonably could have expected out of him as a freshman.
