BOT meeting today

Freshman backcourt=B10 struggles. Have we not seen that before? Wins over Marquette and Louisville help offset a lot, as far as the current resume is concerned. Relax. Archie has had a year and a half. This has been a brutal stretch (and why don't you go count how many times the Hoosiers have had the chance to have a full practice since the beginning of the month, with the schedule). The wholes in the roster were evident to EVERYONE with a realistic look at the team from well before the season started. Injuries have not been kind, and depth is seriously lacking with the healthy players being extremely young or totally new to the system. DeVonte made some kind of bad decision (won't respect rumors). The ONLY consistent player has been Juan (which, again is kinda to be expected with youth being forced to play in so many key positions). I just don't get the total lack of patience. Did you not see the roster Crean left? Take a step back from the ledge!

No wonder the IU program is a dumpster fire. Zero expectations.

Not the first easy option.

There are 5-6 people I’d reach out to. Offer them huge money. Someone would take it.

Absolute worst case scenario we’d have Tony Bennett if I were AD.
I wouldn't be blown away by Bennett, so who you got in front of him. You said 5-6, so I'm expecting 5 names.

This is not a major rebuild. That's what Crean had. In year 2 look at what Davis and Sampson had.
Fred lives in a fantasy world. He gave crean two to four more years then he should of had. The guy can never admit a mistake.

Because I'm sure they will "cut ties" after the 3rd year of a 7 year contract....that's how all the elite programs build to success! Ask Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, etc. Makes total, rational sense, as rebuilds in college are every bit as easy as getting a good draft pick and throwing money at free agents....

Read Trustee Shoulders' quote again. It really doesn't take a whole lot of reading between the lines to understand what he was saying.

Fred wouldn't be able to save Archie's job at that point. If he has a lackluster 3rd year, there isn't going to be a 4th. I wouldn't necessarily say that he'll have to win a conference championship. But if he doesn't make the tourney at all....what would (likely) be 3 years running? No, there's no way he'll get another year after that. They'll cut bait.

North Carolina fired Matt Doherty after 3 years. Might want to take them off your list.

To this day I don’t understand that whole deal.
How could he possibly still be coaching?
Agreed. I suspect AZ took the stand of ‘let the NCAA do the heavy work’ like UK and UNC and see what happens (usually nothing, maybe a fine).

Schools like IU get all excited, turn themselves in and pre-punish themselves with recruiting or scholarship restrictions. The AD is a chump.

The NCAA, I believe, is just another corrupt organization.

I almost want IU to go 2-10 in football and win 10 games in basketball next year so it gets so bad that Glass gets axed. I cant stand this poser.

For you to even say "almost" is unbelievable to me.
You have a unhealthy dislike for FG.

you and i may not have liked it but Glass treated year 4 of crean like an AD would normally treat a coach in year 1. he basically said as much. the clock started late and FG got excited.

Brad
Self
Donovan
Wright
Few

Go ahead, someone say none of those guys would take it. Like anyone here knows. We could double any of their pay. Someone would take $8-10 mil per year if I was AD.

up until about 36 hours ago I would've told every IU fan "stop with this Brad delusional b.s., he's never coming home" but now it sounds like the wheels on the Celtics Ainge/Stevens dynasty bus may have blown a flat tire....guess we'll know more after July 1st (via Kyrie "they blew up my toilet" Irving)

99.9% chance that they wouldn't come
want no part of Self, Few turned down Greenspan years ago, doubt Wright's ever leaving 'Nova since his wife's on faculty there IIRC, Donovan would probably only be interested in UK, but starting to wonder if Brad's Celtics gig is beginning to lose its luster...

in which case someone like UCLA will probably get to him long before IU does

At least we've confirmed you are demented.

Since we’re in the same spot with the same money we had in 2008?
Actually, I think at the time they approached him it wasn’t quite apparent how bad the spot we were in was. I believe it only became truly apparent how bad it was after Crean had signed and then they immediately gave him some sort of extension.

Do you have this on some good authority, because you are really adamant about it?

No, just my sense of where things are — and will be next year if there isn’t an immense improvement. And I think Shoulders’ comment lends support.

Maybe we ought to hire a coach who has won a national championship.
Well since you want a national championship winning take your pick. Here is the list of coaches under the age of 76 oldest to youngest.
76 Jim Calhoun
74 Jim Boeheim
73 Steve Fisher
71 Coach K
68 Roy Williams
67 Tubby Smith
66 Rick Pitino
64 Tom Izzo
59 John Calipari
57 Jay Wright
56 Bill Self
53 Billy Donovan
46 Kevin Ollie
I personally would only want Jay Wright or Billy Donovan off of this list due to age or other factors such as connections to ncaa violations.

I would say there is a better chance of Brad coming back to coach the Pacers than to coach at IU unfortunately.

Ok. I think if next year is bad too, then the seat gets hot for his 4th year.

I see no chance in hell he's fired after next season. Don't care if he wins 10 games.

Glass would also have to be fired, obviously.

IU just doesn't work that way, there is zero history at this institution to show that would occur. Not with that much money laying on the table (a 7 yr contract).

Boston isn't going to come close to firing Brad, unless they are going to ditch Ainge as well.

They are a game out of 3rd in the East. And with the Pacers a dead team walking, they are very likely to be in the Eastern finals.

don't think anyone's envisioning Boston firing Brad--more like the other way around.

especially if Boston DOES fire Ainge if and when the Celtics fail to capitalize on LeBron's move to the West and all of those stockpiled Celtic draft picks...

Thx for the list. I’m OK w an older coach, I’m not looking for a ‘lifer’ just one to get IU back to the top. That makes him easier to replace after a thorough search.

I wish IU fans would just say they are ok with cheating and paying players. That's obliviously what everyone really wants.....or at least what they imply. Should have just kept Sampson.

Go down that list and tell me I'm wrong.

I don’t see where I said that but I can’t stop you from making things up.

It's not you, specifically....it's what high level success in college basketball is about.

You either play or you don't.

I posted in the other thread about best rated coaches over the last 4 years (coaches both in top 70 offense/defense efficiency, for 4 straight years). Fkn Matt Painter is the only guy that scratches all the itches of IUBB fans, apparently.
