Interesting feed, if you scroll down you get some touchpoints on Glass's presentation to the BoT (who I think share blame in this but...)

Shoulders concludes with this: "We all understand that patience is going to have its limits at some point." #IUBOT

That was the comment after Glass said he has confidence in Miller but this is a major rebuild. I think the A.D. and football and basketball coaches are on notice. Looks like they questioned his hiring of Allen too.

Thanks for posting. Shoulders is my cousin. Big Grin!

Fred said Crean had 3 NBA players but didn't say one of them blew his knee out. Archie currently has 2 NBA players.

This is why I think that Archie will get a 3rd year no matter what happens from here on out. But he will not get a 4th year unless the 3rd is an unqualified success.

Fairly or not, we’re coming off a *9* year roller coaster ride. Crean got more years than he should’ve. That means Archie won’t.

I also agree he should get one more year. Injuries happen.

Archie has 1 NBA player

I think Archie has already and will recruit well. So that box is checked.

As for x's and o's and leadership, a good coach's teams play better than the sum of their parts...… You can decide where he stands on that for the last two years. How has he done with what he has? If you think the roster (factoring injuries) is worse than their current record then he is doing a great job.

Tom Allen was an assistant coach hire on the cheap, destined to fail. Crean was at IU too long without conistent success and recruiting over 9 years. Those two are on Fred. Archie is a better hire than those 2, but because of past ineptitude by former coaches he needs a better season in year 3.

Complete rebuild Fred? Where is Tom Pritchard and Daniel Moore?

Essentially it is a complete rebuild, given the roster Archie inherited.

The fact that Glass let it get to a point where a complete rebuild is even necessary is what should be taken from this.

That should have ended his tenure as AD right there. That's beyond gross negligence.

You only need to look at Archie’s offensive work at Dayton to know that THIS years offensive output is the norm. Actually this years is better than his second to last year at Dayton. All of sudden having a top 40 offense won’t happen

Man my memory is bad. I could have sworn Crean won the BIG 12 months before he was fired. Maybe even got to the Sweet 16.

He needs an assistant who can coach offense. That is very clear.

It's only a complete rebuild because this year is a total flop. Had this year gone as expected, the word rebuild wouldn't be in the lexicon. And if a complete rebuild is actually required, it should have started when he was hired. To date, I have seen zero evidence from Archie's time at IU that he is destined to lead this program to greatness.

Btw, what happens if IU loses out. You still retain Arch?

Anyhow, Fred shouldn't be the one making the hiring/firing decisions. I trust the ball kid more.

When people mention Fred's prolific fundraising, does anyone ask the question of how much potential revenue IU has lost as a result of the anemic performance of the fball and bball programs during Fred's tenure? (both in raw $ and in long-term brand)

That's incalculable, but surely astronomical.

Glass must have been referring to the Troy Williams, Noah Vonleh And Yogi Ferrel team that cough cough didn’t even make any post season!!!! Well Fred said we don’t play in CBI

In today's game I don't see that much difference in offense that is ran so the X and O's are not that much difference. I think for todays coach you need to be a good recruiter and recruit the perfect fits to your style. You also need to be a good baby sitter and have to be able to work with all sorts of egos.

Until the deep pocket donors say no more money till no more Glass nothing will change.

Archie continues to play Morgan out of position. Morgan will make a roster for just as long as Troy WIlliams because he will play the correct matchup in the NBA.
totally disagree because there is not much place for a 6'7 non athletic power forward in the NBA. Troy is in the NBA on his athletic ability alone and nothing else.N

Juwan Morgan is not a NBA player. Come on people.....

"Had the year gone as expected" we will finish between 5th and 10th in the B10. Match your expectations with reality, people. IU football probably just had their 2nd best 10 year period in history. The budgets look good. The facilities are being improved (and were WELL out of date when Glass got here). Glass isn't going anywhere, and the people still mad at him for not firing Crean a year removed from an outright B10 title need to get over it. How many threads are going to be started calling for a coach who has been here a year and a half's head after the inevitable loss tomorrow? Calm down and understand there aren't trades and free agency in college basketball. You can't have the same mindset you have in professional sports. It takes time to build a program. Some of you people have the patience of a 2 year old. Can everyone complaining tell me where you picked this team to finish in the B10 heading into the season? Honestly? My absolute most optimistic has everything working out right, a B10 championship, and an elite 8.....the honest expectation: a chance to compete for the top 4 in conference and a chance to get out of the first weekend. Things have not gone smoothly, and with 2 bench points is not enough to beat anyone. If 3 players could win 5 on 5 games Penn State's record the last few years would be amazing. Realign your expectations or give up on the year.

I agree that it’s probably not fair to Archie. But there would be a revolt if the team struggles again next year and he’s retained.

Yes, there are money issues here too. But, as the old saying goes, coaching major sports is a results-oriented profession. You either win or you pack your bags.

If next year looks like this year, Miller will get one more year to correct it. But that’s his limit. Unless he cheats or there’s a scandal of some sort, he won’t be fired after three seasons. IU is far too parochial to do that.
