Does IU jump SMU? If not, it comes down to IU/Bama for first and last in/out. That’s a terrible feeling to have. I know what the committee has repeatedly stated about not adding new data points for idle teams, but Bama now has a win over the SEC champions. Not going to lie, not going to sleep well tonight.

Manuel succinctly said on Gameday that idle teams can’t jump each other. If they keep SMU, IU bumps Bama. Or Manuel is a liar. And he’ll take A LOT of heat for it.

This is ridiculous. Sleep well

This is not a serious question

My head tells me that but I’ve seen IU football get the short end of the stick far too many times to feel 100% confident.
His Gameday answer, in my opinion, points to Bama beating out SMU. But not jumping IU.

Getting in the CFP will be amazing, but playing at OSU will be the least interesting, and worst possible matchup. Sucks.

If the committee is true to their word, SMU won’t drop and IU will be the last at-large with Clemson knocking Bama out.

C’mon man. I know we all watched Rutgers come from 28 down to beat us in 2015, and other horrors of horrors over the years but even the most grizzled, jaded, cynical fan doesn’t go where you went.

Alabama has some good wins but some terrible losses, including a blowout loss to Oklahoma just two weeks ago.

It’s a lock. We’re in.

We are more likely to get ND, PSU, or TX. Don't think we'll see OSU.
I feel like we could figure this one out with one of those process of elimination grids we all did in Middle School.

1 Oregon is locked at 1 seed.
2 Clemson is locked as 12 seed
3 Georgia is locked as 2 seed
4 Boise State is locked as 3 seed
5 AZ state is locked as 4 seed
5 Bama can’t be ranked ahead of IU
6 IU can’t be ranked ahead of Tenn
7 Tenn can’t be ranked ahead of OSU
8 OSU can’t be ranked ahead of ND
9 PSU can’t drop below Texas as the lost to higher ranked team in close game

Somewhere in there, the seeding answers exist.

I think there’s immense SEC influence pressure for Bama to jump SMU. But man, that would set a very, very bad precedent with SMU basically being penalized for making a major conference championship.

This SHOULD be the rankings and bracket

1 Oregon
2 Georgia
3 Notre Dame
4 Penn State
5 Texas
6 OSU
7 Tennessee
8 Boise State
9 SMU
10 Indiana
11 Alabama
12 AZ State
13 Clemson
14 Miami

1 Oregon vs 8 Ohio State/Tennessee
2 Georgia vs 7 Texas/SMU
3 Boise State vs 6 Penn State/11 Indiana
4 AZ State vs 5 Notre Dame/12 Clemson

I was thinking OSU as I posted a couple times, after listing it out, it probably is unlikely.

PSU will be a night white out game in December. Yuck!!!!

Screwed out of playing for a B10 title during COVID. Getting shafted from a NY6 Bowl a week later. Getting sent to the East division. FG no good over the uprights. And that’s just in the last decade. IU has gotten the shaft so many times.
The Covid season. As great as it was it was only half a season, did not beat a team with a winning record, lost to undefeated Ohio State who went on to play in the championship game while IU lost a bowl game to a team with a losing record. I am still waiting to see a replay of the field goat attempt being good, Now if Duke got a fifth down like Colorado did, I would still still be pissed. Fred Glass voted for our inclusion in the east division. We screwed ourselves on that one. Same with some of the hiring decisions that were self-inflicted.

CCC said numerous times that in the first 10-15 minutes he was there all he saw was hopelessness and despair that permeated the program. The foundation of the program was Love Each Other. Anybody think we will ever hear CCC utter that one?

Let it go! No more getting pounded and then saying we just have to flush that game. Let the good times roll!

We’ll stay at 10. Bama should be out.

I think at this point it is between PSU, ND and Texas. I know that PSU lost to OSU, but I don’t see them getting jumped for the extra game. Send TN to Columbus and let’s see how the SEC fares after trying to pile on our loss.

I think these guys feel above heat.
We are not in until it is announced.

This would be great. My two Alma maters. Welcome to Austin

The committee never said teams that lose can't drop in the standings. I doubt that SMU will be eliminated from the CFP, but they should drop behind IU
SMU will 100% go behind Clemson. They will be 12 and Clemson will be 11. They have a head-head metric now. That’s why Bama and Ole Miss beat SC with 3 losses.

There is no chance TX and PSU fall below Notre Dame.
The reality is that we have no clue. We have assumptions and feelings, but we don’t know how they will use the conference games to alter the final seedings. We saw Miami have its close calls bite it in the butt once they lost and lost their cover. Could we see the same for Texas? Again, they will be a home game regardless, but does their lack of quality wins bite them in the backside now that we are more heavily scrutinizing them. To this point their ranking has been more a function of their position in the conference versus actual results.

Just saw FanDuel listed lines for Tennessee/Ohio State but no other games? Do they know something we don’t? Probably ensures we’re going to South Bend.
