It will be interesting to see who wins the backup QB job in spring. Will it be the younger Mendoza brother or the higher rated Cherry? Mendoza has 2 years of eligibility so if the younger brother stays we could end up seeing 4 years of the Mendoza brothers starting

We also offered Jacob Bell out of the Chicago area who is in this year's class but is currently committed to Ball State. I would imagine he flips his commitment.

He played in 6 games in 2023 and 5 games this year. Yes he has started or been the main guy in what you outlined but for all intents and purposes, he's a pretty experienced backup.
My point was he had a heckuva lot more game experience than Little Mendoza, Cherry, or any late signing freshman. Unless they’ve shown an awful lot of poise in practice, that’d be a pretty scary proposition going into a season.

Agree. Are we comfortable having Cherry or younger Mendoza starting if Fernando gets injured like Rourke did?

Gotta find someone with at least as much experience as Tayven, don’t we?
I'm not sure we do. Depends on what the coaches see in practice. If they are comfortable with what they are seeing from the 2 frosh after a year in practice, you probably have to give them the shot at QB #2.

If kids are doing the job in practice and still not seeing a path to the field, they will be hard to keep. Plus it would be hard to sell an experienced QB to come in and be #2.

Inexperienced back-up qb seems more and more the norm everywhere in the NIL era. The “if I’m not starting, I’m not staying” attitude has really put a dent in quality depth, certainly at the qb position. As far as backups go around the country, Tayven had more experience than most. Don’t fault him at all though. Let’s see how the UGA back-up does if they NEED HIM TO actually WIN the game, not just manage it vs ND…I think ND has a real chance to win this game.

Allar staying means Pribula moving on. TJ knowing someone was coming, time to move on. Devin Brown at OSU knowing he won’t be starting next season, time to go. And finally, the highly sought after ones, who were real good at their first place? Probably moving on for more exposure and more $$$$.

ND had a chance to beat GA even with Carson Beck as QB. ND is as good or better than GA.
