To be fair, the guy posting this on X is looking at this strictly from a Michigan perspective because he’s a writer and sports insider for Michigan.. He’s only focused on the rivalry game. He doesn’t care about OSU vs. IU.
Indiana's dline needs to capitalize on this; we've got the personnel to do just that!
Looks like buckeye fans are in meltdown mode over this saying season is over. I mean isn’t there such a thing as “next man up mentality”? That’s what we had to do in this exact same scenario two weeks ago. Also, I’m sure their next man up is like a 4 or 5 star recruit. Lol

Their next man up started all season for them last season. This guy was a transfer from Bama.
They plugged last year's starting C into LG this year. Alabama C last season fell into Buckeye hands for this season. Bucks might be more worried about new LG or RS Frosh starting at C which is being decided. Present game plan scheming and matchups could now be more than footnotes on Haines backburner adjustments. It's a + for IUFB but how much? If they should lose another OL during the game it'll damn sure be dicey.
Also, they had two practices with their next man up.
Our next man up had the Friday walk-through to prepare as the starter. Just sayin'.
They have depth to have a decent Center playing on Saturday. But Center is a pretty impactful position to lose, at this point in the season. And the domino effect it COULD have, by having to move guys around, could hit them hard.
The flip side for a school like OSU, with as much depth of talent as they have, they very easily could "discover" a gamer that comes in and takes over and thrives. Ohio State depth is not the same as IU depth. They have a stable of 4+ star offensive linemen, and I'm sure they have the potential for one of them to "step up" and be incredibly effective on Saturday. Whoever is inserted will have fresher legs, and certainly will be amped up.
I'm reminded of this from time to time from my college bball days. We had a guy on our bench that was incredibly talented, but was buried on the bench because he was lazy, at times, and overall very inconsistent. In the middle of the season, we had a combination of a couple injuries, and a couple suspensions, and he literally HAD to play in a game against one of the better teams in the nation. He had 25 points, 12 rebounds...and we nearly knocked that team off because of it, because of his performance. No one on that team thought he deserved to start or play more minutes. And he went right back to being lazy and inconsistent after that game. But man, for that one day, he was a stud.
On OSU lineman buried on the depth chart for whatever reasons, could easily have a day like that on Saturday.

I don't believe it will be as impactful as we might hope it to be... (although I sure am hoping it Is)...

IU has to play mistake free on defense. Look for cheap defensive holding on the OSU receivers. They are coached to draw those calls. IU cannot take the bait; and need to stay with those receivers. OSU will try to wear down the defensive front and force the back seven to support the run defense....then throw the ball over the top of over-committed linebackers and safeties. This means the IU offense has to be productive; using the entire field and splitting the minutes with the defense on the field. OSU's talent and depth are very formidable....the only way IU can counter that is with discipline and productive offensive playcalling and execution. They aren't going to physically overpower OSU....but they can force them back on their heels with playcalling...negating pressure on Rourke.
Cohesiveness and continuity on the O-line is huge. As with anything where you work closely with others, over time you just develop that instinct about how one another operates. By all accounts, there is a very real element that we got lucky against UM. We lost a lineman like the day before. I'll keep saying it, UM isn't down this year because of a lack of talent on the field. UM is down because there's a seeming lack in the leadership on the sideline.
Our D-Line, plus the LBs, show a lot of different looks at an O-Line. That general lack of familiarity along the line will haunt OSU all day. It ha s been evident most of the year, and now they're having to shuffle again.

IU's X factor in this game is extensive "winning" game experience. These guys are in their 20s...with alot of games under their belt with alot of Ws. OSU wont' change that....and it counters the physical and talent advantages that OSU has to some extent. IU needs to milk that for all its worth.
IU will step up and show OSU what is going on at IU. Coach Cignetti brought in very good transfers and our assistant coaches do a great job of coaching them to get after the other team.
