Dang I missed this post yesterday. Biden does suck. Low blow bring ex up. Heck Biden is tanking my investments but I am smiling because My ex is taking 1/2 the losses. 😂
Because this current economic climate is a president killer, regardless of the actual drivers of it.
Think back to 92. Bush one had something crazy like a 90% approval rating before we went into a small recession during the campaign season....and it killed him.
Same thing with Carter.
Bad economies are kryptonite to presidential administrations, and this one is a pretty bad one. A president in a bad economy tends to look weak. It's just how it is.
The midterms will be rough.
Biden is going to have to decide pretty quickly after the midterms if he's going to run in 24. If he says he is after losing the midterms in the middle of a terrible economy, he's 99% going to be primaried (which is another bad omen to incumbent presidents).
If Biden does decide to run again, well he's turning 80 this year which means he'll be closer to 90 by the time his second term is up.
He's going to need to decide by next spring at the latest to give any potential candidates time to raise money and go through a proper primary process.
To your point, I actually secretly hope Trump runs again, because right now he's so much easier to campaign against above the economy.
That's much harder to do against a candidate like Desantis (who I view in the same regard as Trump. Both are complete clowns who have embraced the crazy of the worst of the party).
So yeah, if it comes down to Trump vs Desantis...I think Trump is more beatable if the economy doesn't recover quickly).

A president's spending policy also has an effect on inflation but for the most part I agree with you that they don't have much to do with the price of gasoline, etc. However, if Trump was still president the people defending Biden would be blaming Trump for the price of gasoline and the inflation.
Is there anyone in government that is not a big ally of Wall St? If Biden is an ally of big oil I sure as hell don't want him as my ally. He sure has a funny way of supporting his allies.
That is a good summary. Presidents get blamed for a lot of stuff that isn't their fault and take credit for a lot of stuff that went well despite their policies.
There's already quite a few Democrats saying he shouldn't run in 2024 so I think he's toast unless things really turn around and everything is rosy. Let's face it, he's not a very intelligent person and he's been led astray by the far left.

Covid mandates to protect people. Oh my. Those were so fn awful. Gov tells people to wear seat belts, tells people to drive to speed limit, tells people not to smoke in buildings.....tells people to wear masks. Oh no, now that is a line not to cross because i believe in my God given right to ignore a pandemic.....is that in the Bible? Not sure.

Desantis just ended the tax benefits Disney had been receiving for years. It would seem that leftists would applaud this because they hate corporations and who is bigger than Disney? Also you haven't really explained how Desantis is trying to control people? I see it that he is allowing freedom for people and not trying to control them. On the other hand take Gov Cuomo. He locked down his state entirely and then put covid patients in with the elderly causing 100k deaths. There is a tyrant. There is a dictator. Glad he is out of office. inflation has nothing to do with spending policies.
companies can and will and do charge as much as they can, without some external force stopping them.
if that force isn't a strong enough market competitor(s), it needs to be politically based.
people tend to way over complicate this, in large part, because the propaganda army likes to over complicate the matter to make people think it isn't as blatantly obvious simple as it seems on it's face..
scale/volume of sales vs just margin per unit factors in, but govt still isn't involved at all in that dynamic, and it can sometimes take an awful lot of increased volume to offset per unit margin.
especially in something where much of consumption isn't discretionary, like gas or pharma or healthcare or milk.
as for Biden being a big ally of big oil. he is.
and of big banking, and pharma, and big everything.
that's why he was inserted as the DNC prez candidate in 2020.
he was the most ownable and buyable of the candidates, as was Hilary in 2016.

And yeah - poor Joe's whole problem is the post-pandemic hangover. He was given a vaccine, but no matter - $1.9 Trillion plus he tried to get more. That certainly didn't stimulate the economy, nor did his war on fossil fuels raise energy prices a full year before Ukraine.
