Biden Gaffe

His decline is accelerating. It’s plain to see. White House correspondents can no longer ignore it. The Daily Show can mock him.

How much longer can so many pretend he’s not failing cognitively?

In this particular case, there are 435 House members. It isn't impossible he forgot. So many people thought Abe Vigoda was dead that someone created this site http://isabevigodadead.com/. So many people misremembered Nelson Mandela dying they named such things The Mandela Effect.

I am not saying Biden is or is not having cognitive issues. He could well, hopefully he is being asked the "Person woman man camera tv" memorization. I am just saying this particular instance could easily be a mistake.

Is Franco still dead?

The river in Egypt and all that.

The river in Egypt and all that.

Why is that? I didn't claim he was free of cognitive issues. I am saying I bet if we recorded you 24x7 we would find a lot of gaffes. Same for me. It is like a hurricane, no one hurricane rapidly strengthing just before landfall is proof of global warming. Many of them doing it can be.

I have said something like this before a few times, if a voter's concern in 2020 was a candidate not showing cognitive decline there wasn't an option in the main parties.

The funny thing about people denying that global warming can make storms intensify more rapidly is that computer models of predicted storm intensification rely in large part on ocean surface temperatures.

Ocean surface temperatures are reaching record highs.

Computer models then said on Sunday "this little ol' tropical storm Ian here will grow to cat 3 within 48 hours, even though that's never happened before"

Then it does.

Then people say "it's not due to warming ocean water, that's just crazy talk"

All well and good. But me getting heavy pulp OJ at Kroger rather than medium pulp doesn’t mean a hill of beans.

The topic here is that the leader of the free world, the fvckin’ most powerful country in the history of the world, has at its head a man who is suffering a serious decline. People can talk about Franco and bring up Trump! Trump! Trump! But that’s not the topic at hand. Trump’s not the president now. The election is over. Biden won. Focus on the here and now.

What do you think was the lead in the daily review the head of each country’s security service prepares for their leadership? I don’t think it was that there’s a new iPhone, Charles the Third wants to go even more green or some dude named Coolio or something died. The lead was: There’s further evidence the president of the US is seriously impaired and we need to take that in consideration in our plans, strategies and tactics. And this would be friend or foe.

This is serious shit. Fvck Franco. Deflections and Tom Crean is funny stuff. This isn’t.

Not just that, her work on the hunger initiative event he was speaking at, the upcoming Friday meeting with her family, his condolences phone call to the brother, the VA Hospital he is having named after her. Her being dead doesn't just slip one's mind unless one's mind isn't working correctly.

So we’re paying attention to presidential gaffes now?
It wasn’t a gaff. His teleprompter said to remember her contributions to getting the legislation passed. He f*cked that up. He has gotten lost exiting his podium twice in the last few days. he waves at people who aren’t there. He tries to shake hands with people who aren’t there. He won’t release medical records. He believes he doesn’t need a cognitive test. If he was your dad, would you allow him to live independently?

And he has the nuclear football.

Hahaha. Just have to hang on a few years. Hopefully congress flips and nothing can get done until 24 and our government becomes SAVAGE!!!!

The storm is not unprecedented and doesn‘t reflect current climate change. We’ve seen worse over a long period of time.

In no way, shape, or form did I ever say that the magnitude of Ian was unprecedented. Of course, you know that, and are again using your bullshit scarecrow tactic, attacking something that I didn't say and hoping that nobody notices.

The rate at which it intensified, from 30 mph winds to 155 mph winds in what... under 3 days?... is certainly at an extreme.

Again, the rapidity of intensification. The rapidity that was PREDICTED.

Got it?

Granted, before radar and hurricane weather balloons and planes, not much data is out there on how fast intensification of Camille or the 1928 Ochechobee hurricane or Galveston 1900 occurred.

But we can say for sure that for the past 50 years or so, this was a clear outlier in terms of intensification rate (not final magnitude), and was expected to be a clear outlier, based on ocean temperatures.

Oh look everyone, Don Lemon is here to complain about climate change instead of focusing on helping his fellow Floridians.

I don't get what you want, I guess this. Every time Biden makes a gaffe it is due to cognitive decline and for no other reason. Every.single.mistake. EVERY FREAKING ONE. His 1987 mistake quoting Kinnock was undoubtedly a sign of a cognitive decline. There, does that satisfy you?

A man admitting to being a Dodger fan should be very concerned about viewing every mistake as a sign of cognitive decline. I mean if Ron Cey and Tommy Lasorda didn't scare you off, there have to be serious issues.

I have never said Biden isn't showing the problem. I only brought up Trump because there were two people with a realistic chance to be president in 2020 and BOTH had signs. There were no other realistic choices in November of 2020. I think if you go back to the primary of 2020 you will see me saying I didn't want Biden because I was afraid of his age. Both parties screwed up leaving us no real choice but to vote for someone showing signs of decline.

Don Lemon is an idiot who I avoid watching at all times, and I am not complaining about climate change.

I am simply pointing out the simple fact that a critical component of the computer models that estimate storm intensity is ocean surface temperature. There are other components, for sure, such as the position and properties of interfering weather systems.

Secondly, the models on Ian for rapid intensification were amazingly correct, even though they predicted a crazy high rate of intensification, far outside of the norm.

The prediction was based on the water being hotter than it ought to be. So it's pretty silly saying that the water being hotter than it ought to be had nothing to do with what we fully expected to happen, precisely because of the water being hotter than it ought to be.

It's high school chemistry. When water is warmer it has higher vapor pressure. More water evaporates in a given amount of time. When air is warmer it can hold more water vapor. Clouds get bigger, faster, and hold more rain. More energy input (heat) means more intensity. This isn't crazy, it's common sense.

A couple of things.

First, a 50-year weather event isn’t much of an outlier.

Second, while the 2022 data is not complete, it appears that the 2022 Atlantic ACE will be well below average and total hurricanes for the last several decades is less than the several decades before that. Sou seem to be cherry picking one data point to make your point.

The second... a great argument, against someone who was arguing that hurricanes are more frequent.

That's not me, though. Another scarecrow. Your specialty.

As to the first, do I wish we had hurricane planes and sophisticated weather balloons for way more than 50 years? Sure.

Question for you... why do you think that ocean surface water temperature is used as at least one component in predicting rates of storm intensification? Wokeness or common sense?

A 2018 study, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, found that hurricanes in certain parts of the Atlantic are rapidly intensifying faster than they used to. The paper suggested that warming ocean waters are the likely culprit—although it noted that the warming so far could be a combination of human-caused climate change, natural climate fluctuations and other factors.
A separate paper, published in 2019, also found that Atlantic hurricanes are intensifying at faster rates. That study used climate models to investigate the potential causes, finding that human-caused climate change likely has played a role.

Which is what I said to start the debate. A storm doing it doesn't mean anything. Many storms doing it becomes an indicator.

Nobody is saying that higher ocean water temperature is the be-all-and-end-all as to whether or not we ever get any hurricanes, or not.

Some hurricanes don't develop due to interfering phenomena. Saharan dust storms and dry Saharan air apparently made many of the Atlantic low pressure systems fall apart this year. We had hazy days and amazing sunsets from the Saharan dust clouds. Often the Pacific La Niña pattern hampers Atlantic hurricane formation. Sometimes African weather patterns cause many of the Atlantic lows to form at a higher latitude and they are swept north by the gulf stream, long before they can reach North America.

But when all other conditions are right for hurricanes to form, storm intensification is accelerated by water being warmer. It's not at all hard to understand why. It's basic high school chemistry on temperature and vapor pressure.

At least he brought down gas prices and chased the Russians back home. 😆

But seriously, I hope this type of thing gets him and those around him to question running in 2024.

No single gaffe points to a cognitive decline but when there are so many I think the evidence is clear. As much as I liked Reagan is was easy to tell that he was declining towards the end of his second term and I never tried to defend it as just a gaffe.

I can tell personally that I have digressed to a certain extent because I can't remember things that I would have remembered 5 years ago and be say something and forget the word I want to say.... frustrating.

I completely agree. Just as a standalone gaffe I don't know this isn't anything but an honest mistake.

I used to memorize numbers quite well. Now, not so much. Some of it is the use of cell phone contacts, some is decline.

Yeah it's kinda funny... used to I could dial a number today and next year on the same date I could probably dial it again with over 90% accuracy without looking it up BUT you introduce me to a new person and tell me their name and 30 minutes later I probably can't tell you their name.:)

It seems self evident that Marv can not admit to the completely obvious because doing so would seem like some type of win for the R's. That is just not acceptable to the left.
The only problem is that the executive cheese done slid off the cracker. It's really not debatable and it's not because he's a D or because he isn't an R, it's because he's a few thousand breaths from being a fossil.
Another observation, paralleling Pennsylvania supporting a recent stroke victim with a huge growth on his neck (not talking about his skull) to be 1 of the top ~103 most power people in the country, is that Biden was in serious decline when they ran him....... From his basement.
The question(s), why would the DNC, who in the DNC prefer people who are easily manipulated and why exactly. hmmm

I dunno.

Atlantic ACE is stable. Hurricane frequency is stable or slightly reduced over the last 20 years or so. Picking out a statistic attempting to show, not intensity, but rate of intensity, of a storm and using that for an ah ha global warming smoking gun seems like a reach. .

no poster can consistently post worth a sht, who's loyalty is to a political party.

Marv's loyalty is to party.

he ain't exactly the Lone Ranger here.

thus we get what we get.

a non stop avalanche of sht half the time from both sides.
