Better Than You Think

As I Purdue fan I don't think you guys are as far off as what it may seem as of now. Carver Hawkeye is going to be tough for anyone to win at, and Illinois was coming off of a difficult loss. You are still 4-3 in the conference, and I think you will win this evening which will make you 5-3. 10 or 11 conference wins is a real possibility, that might be enough to get in the big dance with these larger conferences. I do think you miss Malik, but I would think he will be back soon.

If I were a Purdue fan, I would hope that IU keeps Woodson, too!

That's the reason Izzo said this.

"Mind boggling to me that Mike has won 18 games in a conference, that's really difficult from 2 to 13, and somebody has got to stick up for him coming back next year? What a joke, what a joke, man. Administrators, what a joke."

I don’t disagree. The talent is certainly there to make a run and most of the fan base knows that. I still think we end up 12-8 or 13-7 in conference. Just need to get healthy and build some confidence.

This board is full of haters and trolls… notice how it was crickets around here after winning a BigTen road game?

Count me in as a hater !..And I've been around since 1975 ..I've not talked to one real knowledgeable fan or alum. That wants to see this program continue under Woodson and his staff. .
There's plenty of loosing still coming.

You are not wrong. Keep Woodson!

We just beat a time who sits now at 10-8 and 2-5 in OVERTIME. It took what, 2 or 3 five stars, a perrenial all-Pac 12 player along with frosh of year Pac 12 player to beat said team. 🎊

I’ll take the win but beating a bad team on the road in overtime when u are playing your best is not too exciting. Now if we are a good team that played bad and gutted out a win that would be refreshing. But this? I just kissed my sister (on the cheek). BFD

I think Woodson believes he would win consistently if he had the players. And when he had a 1st team All American TJD, he did pretty well. But the trouble with relying on player talent like that is that he is in charge of getting the players every year, although it couldn't get any easier than offering them cash.
But he has flat out missed on Bidunga, Mullins, Fland, McNeeley, Haralson, Reibe, Moreno....just to name a few. Let alone not recruiting good players that are signing elsewhere, like KJ Windham, Markus Burton, Axavier Robinson...I mean you sort of reap what you sow if you think throwing money at Ballo and Ware is going to result in stellar 1 yr seasons.
In the Big Ten, or at least at Indiana, you don't get many throw away years. Certainly not without having great success in between.
Indiana fans want to see a basketball team that can compete with anyone.

This year's team cannot compete with anyone in the top half of the league.

Just like they wanted Allen here.
We saw how that worked out this yr 66 -0
It may not end up that good..But I absolutely believe the next hire if he's even decent..Makes Indiana a constant top 20 team again in hoops..

Hope you are right but we’ve got an impatient fanbase and have been saying this for 30 years.

Izzo also publically criticized Illinois for firing Bruce Weber for taking us from a National Championship appearance to missing the Tournament 3 out of 5 years … lol, he wants to keep his punching bags around!

Did you manage to type that with a straight face?

Woodson hasn't beaten winning big team team yet.

That team has 3 five stars and 5 top 50. IU has 3 five stars, 4 top 50. Last night only one of those 5 stars suited up for IU while 2 suited up for OSU. You should probably do a little research outside of your myopic view before posting.

If all those stars don't translate to a future in basketball, there was a lot of aptitude for the bricklaying profession on that court.

Four teams spent big bucks for talent this year. IU, OSU, UCLA, Illinois . Only one is currently successful. It doesn't always work, regardless of talent level...

Ok. But Cronin has had success in the past. Anyone can have a 💩 year. Diebler, Woodson…. Not so much. I’m amazed anyone can defend this pathetic regime anymore. Find a new hobby

OH IO is trash. That team will not make the NIT. 6-14 in the big ten is my guess
I was surprised at how poorly OSU played. Just players going one on one with very little offensive scheme. Basically alley ball. I thought our defense looked better but the Buckeyes seemed to have no offensive plan other than take a defender off of the dribble and throw up some garbage.
