Can we use some of the 10 extra runs scored yesterday and apply them to some the 1-run losses earlier this year? That's how it works, right?
The Cards have looked less than stellar this month. Mailing it in, or peaked too soon?
Injuries to have caught up to them and the pitching staff appears to be gassed. Their healthy position players are running on fumes because they have no bench. Carpenter, Peralta, and Wong all started out great, but with no one to spell them from the bench, they wore out. Grichuk, their star rookie, will probably need elbow surgery, but numbnuts Matheny started him in CF. He cannot throw the ball into the infield. If he plays look for the Reds to take advantage.
Plus, give a little credit to the Reds. Their hitters worked Garcia deep into the count until they got a pitch to hit.
