I don't think you read it very closely if you didn't catch that the whole reason it was dropped was because they couldn't prove strangulation. There was no doubt or denial of the physical altercation. The strangulation part was what drove it to a felony and without her testimony that it happened, they would be reliant on physical evidence, which they didn't have based on the way that he did it.

I read it and understood it. Is there any "official" account where a police investigator or DA said they had to drop it because he used his forearm instead of hands; or was that just an ESPN sportswriter's guess? Find me the former and it's meaningful; the latter? Not so much.

This thread and the others like is why this hire doesn't work. IU can't hire a shiny new basketball coach that sparks a giant debate over the nature of that coach's DV allegations and other issues like drinking and perhaps some other confrontations. Not only is the narrative of IU being okay with it bad, if he has another incident at IU, Scott and Pam and maybe some trustees are at risk of losing their jobs.

And personally, this isn’t the kind of coach I want.

Bob Knight 20 years ago is a lot different in this day and age. I don’t think anyone would hire a 50 year old Bob Knight now.

It would take an AD with some kahunas. However, if Pitino is still in demand, surely a 50 yr old Knight would be sought by someone that prefers winning.
