Does the amount of other schools with openings this winter factor into anyone's decision that Glass should make about Wilson.

The number of jobs that would be considered better than IU this year will be higher than normal.

Wilson deserves a short extension, IMO. He's putting guys into the NFL. Once he and the team learn how to win, you'll be glad.

Putting guys in the NFL should not be gauge we use to determine success. Every team has a few stars that get a shot at the next level. Wilson has had no more NFL placements than other mediocre schools playing FBS football. Give me a cohesive, smart team who do their jobs than trying to develop a limited number of superstars for the next level.

The VaTech opening won't be a factor, I'm sure they will hire from within and make Bud Foster the HC

Waaa.waaa...waaa...your whining on every positive comment is getting very old. Start your own negative thread and stay out of positive ones.

A thread talking about how there are better jobs available than IU is a positive thread?

This year is definitely a coach's market. I'm not exactly sure what I would do were I Glass, but, of course, he must consider that.

I've got a "retread special" package for IU. Here it is:

Bring in Frank Beamer and Bud Foster as head coach and DC, respectively.
Frank doesn't need to take retirement he's too young. And Bud Foster is a hell of a defense of coordinator.

Next, we bring in the architect of offense - genius Norm Chow, who was recently fired from Hawaii.
Special consideration will be provided to: Bill Cubit, Randy Edsell on the staff.

I wasn't necessarily trying to be negative. I think Wilson should stay (barring losing out and looking bad doing it)
I saw a list of DIV1 jobs that will likely be open this offseason and in terms of history, star power, desirability of job, IU will have a lot of schools ahead of them (not knocking, just honest)

If Glass were to let Wilson go, he better have a good idea who he wants to replace him, and better be pretty confident IU can land him.

Totally agree with this.

Get so tired of our one "prospect" a year declaring early because "he's a beast", or "he's a stud", getting drafted somewhere mid rounds, barely making a squad, then disappearing off the face of the earth within 2-3 years....

especially when had they stayed at IU through 4 years, they could have been a leader to take us to the next level.

Repeating what I posted on the premie, 1993 was VaTech's first bowl under Beamer (vs IU of course). It was his SEVENTH season. He had trended the wrong way, going from 6-5 to 5-6 to 2-8-1 the previous three seasons, from 1990 to 1992. A little patience paid off for the Hokies.
