Woodson was pretty to the point that he wasn't going to discuss why Ballo was out. That he only cared who was playing and he'll take care of the Ballo situation tomorrow. That isn't what you say to a guy who's got a normal injury. That tells me he was scolded for something he did last night or he pulled himself out. Am I missing something?

I have no inside info but your train of logic makes sense.

Whatever helps IU lose more games this season, I'm all for.

This picture was circulating on Twitter with multiple reports stating that he got caught out late at the bars last night.

I believe that is the wife of the account that posted the tweet. He is just in the background. Supposedly, it was at the Upstairs Pub around midnight last night. Other accounts on Twitter that usually have reliable info were posting similar things.

They said on TV that it was a lower body injury . Maybe he fell down the stairs , because he was at the Upstairs Pub .

I actually posted that as a reply on Twitter to one of the tweets that said lower leg injury on the broadcast. Obviously, these are just rumors and maybe it was an injury thing, but the way Woodson spoke about it postgame it certainly sounds like there is more to the story.

The whole thing is a dumpster fire. Woodson has to go. He’s so awful it’s beyond words at this point.

Yep, 2 of my sons friends were there Saturday night and saw him. If you hear the things that go around campus regarding Gallo, then you have to wonder if the whole team isn't investing their NIL $$ into a liquor distributorship!

How late are you talking? One would always assume there's a curfew on game nights. Midnight? They are college students, I don't expect them not to go out on a Friday or Saturday night, but if he was too hungover to play, or it impacts their play, that's unacceptable. Wasn't the whole kerfuffle in Chicago a couple years ago over broken curfews? Do we not even have that now?

Here is one perspective on how the night before should work. Ant was at Michigan.

Dude just wanted an AMF, I don't blame him.

He's a millionaire so I'm not sure what anybody is going to tell him anyway.

IU bball players have always been partiers, aside from Cal and Chris in the early 90s. I think most college ballers like to play a little bit. Only natural.

Lots of well-paid folks still have to follow the rules. That might be the next phase to NIL though, is that you must comply with program rules and policies, if not performance requirements. Whoever forked over significant $$ for this roster has to be pissed about now.

You think that was for home games too? Sounds like a road policy. It may happen, but I've not heard of meetings or check ins the night before the game. Would make sense though.

I was friends of friends of a couple players in the mid 80s and don't think they had any type of meetings the night before home games. Alford, Eyl, Hillman days.

Not sure. Ant saw the Ballo situation and this is in response to it, so I assume he is referencing what he did for home games.

Maybe in the 80’s RMK’s ability to put the fear of god into his players made check-ins unnecessary. That would not be a fun meeting with him if he caught you vbg.

When you think that some NFL players get into the drug business when they have some extra money, you have to wonder what 19-year-olds are going to do with their cash.

Is there a correlation between partying and shooting 5% behind the arc?

Hell, my HS coach would call the house on Friday night if we had a Saturday game to make sure you were home, even if we played a Friday night game an hour earlier (home or away). Your ass had better be there or there would be hell to pay.

Seems to me they should be out at the bar or casino at game time instead of masquerading as a D1 basketball team on the floor. They got plenty of money so that shouldn't be a problem either.

I would say going out at all the night before a game is unacceptable. It’s not like IU plays every single Saturday or Sunday. IU plays a total of 11 games this year that occur on a Saturday or Sunday this season. There are, roughly, 52 of each of those days during a year. That leaves plenty of Friday and Saturday nights to go out and do whatever. JFC stay home the night before a game.

Makes sense to me now. Not sure it would have when I was 20. I was a pretty serious cross country runner and we drank and hung out many nights before races, and ours started way earlier than a bball game does.

how could you drink all night and go run 7 miles or whatever it is through a hay field? on top of that don't most cross-country runners weigh about 75 lbs. I'm impressed if true

What is he, like 22? No problem. When I was his age I could party all night and be at work at 7:00 the next morning. Piece of cake. And now that I think about it
I've woke up in a corn field a few times.

I could drink all night, hit the gym at 7, then go to work. However, I could tune my workout and my work didn’t involve running and jumping in competition with D1 athletes.

Yes, 7 figures needs to come with compliance to increased expectations … Youthful exuberance has not place with that kind of money. …

Maybe the team needs to go to a hotel the night before games to enforce curfew more rigorously.

Don’t they live in an athletic dorm? The assistant coach should be there to monitor them.

I have started finding myself rooting for the other team during the game.
Well, I can’t root against my Hoosiers, but I find I just don’t GAF at this moment. So I watch some of the game, get bored or frustrated and don’t make it to the end. If they lose, at least it’s one more nail in CMW’s coffin.

same. I flip channels during time outs, then forgot about the game and switch back, missing several minutes. Or just walk away for a while and do something else. For me it’s just not appealing basketball to watch. Like watching the Bears…finally had to admit I had better things to do with my time than spending 3 hrs on Sunday watching a crap team play a crappy game. Shifting priorities in life play a part, but I really do wish I could spend a night or two every week in the middle of miserable winter weather and watch a great IU team go up to Madison and beat those goons. Or pin a 30pt+ loss on NW like the good ole days.
