Awful, team has zero heart and yes, Archie should be on very hot seat ...

Unwatchable product for 3.5$ million, no heart, bad effort again.
I'm doubling down on my own post … too much bad play, that has little time to be righted. I'm giving Arch one more year and that will be a white hot seat with as much shit-shows, with decent enough talent, even considering injuries. BS excuses, every team goes through it, every year, BS!

Iowa is the better team at this point. After watching the last eight games. I would'nt call this one unwatchable. Just need to make a few more shot's.
I wouldn't disagree that they are a better team, the question is why, for 3.5 million, are we not better, with better talent? Bout done with Arch and his scum-bag brother, who's about to go down. Reality check, bad-hire, let's get it over with.

key possessions were not played well tonight. They just kept letting things slip.

There were too many things that look under-coached, but what I think must happen is Miller must change at least one assistant in the off season. There are just too many situationals that have're been addressed.

You can blame Miller as much as you want to but next year he will be here.

This team is underperforming relative to the talent, but two years is not long enough to build a legitimate, sustainable Big Ten winner. Going 9-9 in the BT last year with McSwain as a starter was good enough for me to reserve my judgement until year three.

Yeah, this is reasonable. The team is struggling with a lot of young guys and some missing pieces. He will need to address a lot next year.

What’s a “good” season 6-6 in football and 19-11 in hoops? Probably good enough for Glass

Forget about football. Other than Mallory, they have been bad for 100 years with 2 exceptions, '68 and '40.

A bowl game and NCAA tournament appearance at the bare minimum. Not gonna happen though. This whole thing hasn’t reached bottom yet.

This season is effectively over. We will get an NIT invite but nobody is going to be happy with that. Will probably check out in the first round.

I am still of the opinion that massive changes need to occur over the off-season. The roster needs turned over and I would jettison at least one assistant coach as well. I also think that Miller should be coaching for his (and Glass's) job next year.

The season is not over.

It is effectively over. We are 13-10, half of our remaining games are against ranked teams (Michigan St., Purdue, Wisconsin, and @Iowa). How many of those do you think we will win? We also play @Illinois and @ Minnesota and have Rutgers and Ohio State at home. I would say at best we go 4-4 over the next 8. 17-14 is not getting us in the tournament.

So yeah, the season is effectively over unless you consider one of those loser tournaments to be worthwhile.

BS, seat should be very hot! Gee, wouldn't it be lovely to basically drastically underperform at my job, or you at your's, and get a wealthy extension? F-that, white hot!

This!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would anyone expect us to be good a football team … we suck, we will always suck, and only those not delusional will realize that. I don't mind them making half-ass commitments to FB progress, why … marginal returns … Clemson or Alabama probably would beat us 100-0 at home, this year or next. BBall is what we do and historically, and hey guess what … Duke historically sucks at football too, but way better since admins got it.

Football pays the bills and having a good football program lifts all sports financially. It is by far the most lucrative sport in collegiate athletics. The only thing holding IU back in football is commitment from the university. Plenty of schools have built good football programs.

In the last 20 years......we don’t do basketball well, at all.

If you are banking on basketball to carry the load, you are living in the Stone Age. You better hope they both do well, because all of the so-called football schools have blown by IU on the hardwood in this conference.

What does the football program being bad have anything to do with our hoops team sucking? We spend plenty of money on basketball. We have elite resources and a top 10 paid coach. We just keep making baffling hires.

You mentioned elsewhere that you thought CAM has 'lost this team'.

My immediate thought was that 'he never had it'.

I say that because from the first time I saw this team with CAM (scrimmage at HH, 2017-18), I was concerned about their overall demeanor. It was obvious that 1/2 of the team had no interest in being there. Now one can say, 'what the hell, it's only a scrimmage', but it was very alarming because I would have expected a different attitude for a new coach, new era. For this reason, I was not surprised we lost to a few nobodies in Fall 2017, although I was shocked by the margins.

Fast forward to 2018-19.....The hope was 'addition by subtraction' with the graduation of Newkirk & Johnson...plus an infusion of talent & enthusiasm with Hunter & talent with Romeo, plus Davis being back. Lots of reasons for optimism. The big question to me was what Miller was going to be able to get out of Green & Smith. It was obvious that both needed an attitude adjustment. Would it happen?

Unfortunately not. Stat-wise, no improvement and some decline. Green still careless & selfish with the ball. Brainless passing and shooting. Smith still plays hard only when he feels like it, which seems to be about every third game. Miller praises them off & on, especially Smith, but whatever motivations he has tried do not work. The play of those two guys, and injuries, leads to the point where Miller says after the Iowa game: "I wasn't terribly disappointed with our team tonight".

To me, that was a wtf comment. To be fair, he explained in some detail why Iowa won & IU lost.....in isolation, his comments made sense. But they won't fly when you're fresh off a seven game losing streak, and you are talking about errors and omissions, but you never discuss the reasons for those continuing issues.....inattention to detail and lack of sustained effort.

Which finally leads me to what I see as the bottom line question.......how, exactly, is CAM going to deal with Smith & Green going forward? It's been 2 & 3 years, respectively. The positive approach hasn't worked. Do you cut bait after the year? Or do you continue to chase their "potential" for one more year?

I admit that the call is harder with Smith, because he has been effective more frequently than Green. But how long do you continue to give major minutes to a player who shows up 1/3 of the time?

Very difficult choice for CAM. I personally hope both are gone by next fall, but CAM is paid $3.5M to make the right call.

If my job depended on it, and I think Miller is at that point, I would ask them to both leave and look for 5th year transfers.

No way I am putting my trust in those 2 again.

I agree.

And probably better for those two.

Smith conceivably could have more success elsewhere. Doubtful, but possible.

I think Green is a lost cause for anyone, but maybe he could find a smaller program where he could shoot it a lot more.

Can't ask them to leave Glass won't let APR score go down anymore, mark it down.

If I am AM I keep them both. Two things change however:

DG becomes the third guard and on the floor exclusively for defense. He has quick hands and good foot positioning. He rarely shoots and never ever...ever that POS floater.

Smith is the second guy off the bench playing 8-12 min. He is a serviceable sub and a good practice player. If anyone is encouraged to move on it is Forrester. He is more concerned about his Sideshow Bob hairdo than HS game.

They got beat in the first half, are you really going to argue that they played hard the entire first half? They played better in the second half sure, but the game was already over.

We gave up 46 points by halftime and our defense was atrocious. For a self proclaimed defensive coach that is unacceptable, period.

Yes. I played basketball and could have played in college but chose to play football so I know a little about the game. I saw a team that played hard but was out played in this game by a team with some very hot shooters. Of course our team can play better and should but to say they didn't play hard last night and in the MSU game is ridiculous.

They play scared. They play like robots. They have 3 or 4 movements before anyone even looks toward the basket. There's no creativity. There's no joy.

lol about the "POS floater"......it seems like he's hitting about 20% of those and 1/3 of his attempts are air balls. Funny thing about it is that you don't see a lot of those because they're hard shots and you have to practice your ass off to be good at it.......with Green, it looks like some Sunday afternoon CYO game when he drives the middle of the lane and air balls it.

That said, I agree he should be the third guard, play off the ball on offense, play good on the ball D, and shoot 3 pointers. He does hit something like 38% of his 3s, even this year. It is his 2 point attempts that are a disaster. If he stays, CAM should tell him that's his role, take it or leave it.

yes, yes, yes, and yes. I mostly blame Crean for recruiting these guys in the first place, but that doesn't do us any good. CAM only has until next year to fix it.....after that, he's got no credibility left.

IU played hard and with passion in streaks last night which is an improvement over what we have seen over the past three weeks. They simply were beaten by a very good shooter who had his season high. IU usually gets everyone's A game and always has.

How the hell does this have anything to do with how hard IU played last night? I don't care if you played in the NBA it doesn't make your opinion any more (or less) valid. It also doesn't prove that you know more or less about the game, there are a lot of people that didn't have the physical tools to play but know the game inside and out. There are also players in the NBA that are physically gifted, but have the basketball IQ of a fire hydrant.

The fact is, this team has lost 8 of 9 games. In at least 3 of those losses they had either equal or better talent. Romeo and Justin were the most gifted guys in the court last night, yet their defensive rotations were atrocious, and Justin was trying to guard 3 point shooters with his arms down letting guys splash right in his face. Never mind Devonte Green's inability to avoid turnovers. They played extremely lazy at times in the first half and in crunch time they played scared to death, passing up one open shot after another.

We all root for the same team, but at times It's okay to put the cream and crimson glasses away and call it like we see it. I'm sure they work hard in practice, but for large portions of games they play like a scared, and lazy basketball team.
