I don't think Turkey cares about the Alawites, but if Damascus subdues them and then turns their attention to the Kurds...
Kurds always get shit on. Should have given them their own state after WW1.
The things happening in Syria are another case of us backing the wrong people. The videos on Twitter are literally a nightmare.
I think the problem there is that there were no "right" people.
That is a "then don't get involved" type of situation.

Anywhere Islam is the majority, this is bubbling under it. There is a reason that area is run by heavy handed autocrats, a not insignificant percentage of their populace is filled with these dudes.
No one will ever convince me that Islam isn't societal cancer. You don't want or need it in your populace.
