Yes 100% the question is do you give him a another year when the whole roster will be overhauled.
Not that bad. The talent on this team is pretty high level so it won't happen. Probably lose the next 4 though

I have been reading on here for the past 6-7 years that wait until PU loses (fill in the blank) and every year Painter puts a good team on the floor. They signed another big dude I believe for next year. I am not worried about PU, IU needs to RAISE their game!

I saw IU is 0-5 versus quad 1 teams with average loss of 17.8 pts. That’s middle of the road MAC team. How embarrassing. This is a 15-16 win team
Nah. We might lose 3-4 in a row starting with tonight. But there are a lot of mediocre teams in the B10 this year. We’ll get a decent amount of them after the game at Illinois. Wouldn’t be surprised if we beat Illinois either. But we won’t win more than 1 or 2 Quad 1 games I bet.
At that point…Woody needs a pretty substantial portal overhaul, and I’d say probably needs to bring in a seasoned college coach into his staff. Someone he’ll respect and listen to, that can help him build a good college roster and program.
The good news is…Liam McNeely, Gabe Cupps, Jakai Newton, Malik Reneau, Mackenzie Mgbako isn’t a terrible core to start with. Just need a bunch of proven 2 way “dogs” to go with them.
The Woody that led last offseason and this season can’t turn it around. If he takes a dose of humility, and is willing to overhaul some things, he can be successful at IU.

You mean like Dane Fife & Thad Matta? You have a lot of faith that all or even any of the players you mention will return to play for a coach that won’t sniff the tourney with a bunch of five stars this year. Last year was as good as it’s gonna get with Woody. He gotta go, the sooner the better. It really is amazing how bad our administration has been at hiring coaches…

Thad wasn’t an assistant. He was associate AD. They were getting him back in the game or tried to hire him as coach. Depends on who you believe. Dane has loose lips and said too much, did things behind woody etc..I’d say woody rolls with what he has. For better or worse imho.
So he turned down IU job but was ready for the Butler job within a year?

I have a feeling that most of this team may transfer out next season. Transfer rules make it easy. Probably depends on the rest of the season. I don’t think anyone is lock to stay
I think it's not likely especially if Ware goes to the draft. Most of these "star" guys are in it to get to the next level, they don't care that much about college wins and losses (and we're seeing that, it seems).
That might be a good core but how many with hit the portal immediately after the last game?
As I stated above, I have read that PU will drop back because ( insert name ) will be gone.
I think it started when Edwards was leaving and yet Painter plugs in new players and continues to win (except in the tourney!) Don't they have their next Lurch signed already?

What coach would satisfy this board. There are the New Agers that were happy to fire a HOF coach for using rough language and defending the respect that his accomplishments were due. There are the Fundamentalist Moralists that were happy to fire a future HOF coach for sending text messages. All fans want a program back in national contention. As best I can tell the only potential candidate would be a cloistered nun that has won at least one national championship.
Simple. It would have to be someone like Pearl or Beard or Hurley that would come to be an assistant and keep the head coach happy in addition to turning the program around.
Are you that naive? We’ve been saying this crap since Swanigan. Then is was Haas. Then it was Williams. Then it was Edwards. Then it was Ivey. Now it’s Edey. You’re crazy if you don’t think Painter will have this team at the top of the Big Ten (top 4) again next year. Oh, by the way, he’s got one 7 footer on the bench and another one on the way.
Purdue has a program I’d love to have here. Fundamentally sound, well coached, no egos and they play as one unit.

No not happy. I am one of the fans that want to return to national contention and wouldn’t have fired a HOF coach for telling a student he expected a reasonable amount of respect nor hounded a future hall of fame coach for text messages.
I’d not be so sure of that- Edey has a great NIL deal and zero hope for a NBA impact.
To be clear I have low expectations, unfortunately, for Coach Woodson and would not listen to these other groups of special interest fans that have loud voices when making the next hire.
