No, you can't. You think when the price of Mexican tomatoes goes through the roof, California tomatoes stay the same price? That's not how this works. Price increases will spread naturally to domestic products, too.
Trump is manufacturing his own cost of living crisis, the very thing that brought down Biden.
Nowadays the IRS has a program which basically says if a restaurant's serving staff claims at least 10% tips overall, they won't be audited. It's more complicated than that, but that's the basic rub. So, for the most part, servers claim half their tips. Or more than half if they work in places that are low on cash tips, as you mentioned.

I think we have a trade surplus with Brazil and a few others. Yet, they're still getting hit.
Yes, I can avoid some tariffs. I can choose to consume less or substitute for another food that wasn't tariffed. Imports account for around 15% of our GDP. I will lose out on the amount of goods and services (and/or choice) I can buy because that's what taxes do.
I agree Trump will lose in 28 if they don't scale them back or come through with a major tax cut bill. Like income taxes go to zero for people making less than 100k.

Probably not because a lot of the affected products will be bigger ticket items that aren't regular purchases. Car parts are another example I've seen. I do my own work. I need to make a repair maybe 3-4 times a year and I'm a high mileage vehicle owner.
The problem is the capital account flows to assets in the stock market and homes, which drives inequality and makes both less affordable for the average American wage earner. It's not sustainable long term. You can't build walls high enough to keep everyone out, Crazed.

You’ve been complain about the Fed doing this for years. You cannot possibly be supportive of a different policy either similar results.
I'll admit I have a bias because my wife and I live a fairly spartan lifestyle. Life doesn't have to be expensive and there are ways to mitigate the effects of government policies.
I've seen about 46,083 arguments against the tariffs, and none of them involved vegetables. Although I'm sure some of them should, because vegetables, like many other things, will become more expensive.
You can be as spartan as you want, but you still have to feed yourself, clothe yourself, etc. All of those things are going to cost more.
Why would I not want America to buy Bitcoin? I sure as hell don't want China or Russia doing it first.
I do. I'd love to have China and Russia holding all the bitcoin when it finally crashes and burns.

Feeding and clothing yourself doesn't have to be expensive. It's much easier living rural small town though. Been in my house since 2009. Still pay $550ish a month mortgage. Income has doubled since.

It will be more expensive than it was before. That more will be most noticed by the working class.
I pay $10 for Sonoma brand tshirts at Khols. I've had the same 2 pairs of Levi 527 jeans for 2 years. Grow my food in summer. Source locally. Hunt too, donate extra kills.
It doesn't have to be that much more expensive. Adapt.
I applaud a lot of what you do. More people should try it. But you do understand what would happen to this county and our economy if everyone assumed your spartan lifestyle. It would be catastrophic.

My early childhood was poor. Single mom, living in a trailer. Things got better over time.
I feel a lot of people better off or never experienced it dont understand the choices that need made.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen people buy shit food with food stamps then buy lottery tickets, cigarettes and beer with cash. I guess I'm saying people have options, their poor choices will affect them more than some government policy.
Not unaffordable though. I'm guessing what you spend on one outfit could cloth me for a year and buy an extra pair of Under Armour shoes

Remember as late as the mid 1980s visiting my great grandma outside Olney, IL who did not have indoor plumbing. Had an outhouse and old pumper well. My parents tried to spring for plumbing one Christmas and she said no thanks.
Some of that stuck with me. Still hate to see people blow money on expensive clothes. I'm about ready to kill my kids every time the door dash and buy expensive coffee. A lot of people have it tough but as a nation we blow so much money on junk.
