Archie’s Technical

I loathe Izzo because he's a trash but he works the refs as well as anyone and gets the calls because of it just like Knight used to. Miller needs to learn to work the refs to some degree. It's basic gamesmanship. He doesn't have to be a douchebag like the guys from Iowa or Penn State but when you are in a game and you are getting railroaded then it might be time to assert yourself and let the B10 refs know that you aren't going to be a pushover.

Yep, and its a wierd way to fire up your team but it works. Ive seen it many times.

I hope CAM reads here. I'm sure he would be very interested in your insights on how to coach a major D1 program.

I’m as critical of Archie as anyone but that reaction was totally justified. That series of calls was egregious.

Just blatant.

The problem I had with the Technical was the timing. It occurred with less than 2 seconds left in the half, and Belmont hit all four free throws (2 for the personal foul, two for the technical), to extend the lead to 6 points, and we didn't have enough time left in the half to get a good shot. The players could have looked at the Scoreboard, had that "here we go again attitude, and tanked in the second half. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

Proud of him for getting fired up?

or

Embarrassed that he waited until and NIT game to get it?

My opinion...Had he showed emotion at all during regular season, maybe IU not playing in NIT at all...

Whichever choice that makes CAM look like a worse coach...you choose.

I agree, Archie needs to let the refs know he will not stand by and let repeatedly poor officiating happen without calling them on it. Even more important might be the message it sends the team: that Archie has their backs and he is not going to let inept officiating dictate the game. RP was fouled twice going up for that shot and a third time when he was stepped on afterward. Meanwhile, St. F drives down the floor for a layup and a phantom foul is called on IU when the guy wasn't even touched. Not to say the entire game had been called that way but in that one series the calls were beyond bad.

Long overdue. When you're team is getting jobbed by the refs the coach has to do something. Or when you're team seems to lack fire or the will to fight, the coach has to set the tone. I'm not big on getting a T but I've been waiting for Archie to do this since things went south.
