Critics of the overpopulation movement have often said to proponents “So why don’t you lead by example?”

What’s strange, Palm Springs is the Queer Capital of the United States!

One of the early developers of Palm Springs was a guy who lived in Evansville named Ray Ryan. He built his wealth in oil/gas from Southern Illinois.

He ran with Hollywood types and mobsters, particularly from the Chicago Outfit. He was very close with William Holden, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and many other celebrities.

Ryan was a prolific high stakes gambler. He won a bunch of money in a poker game back in the 50s and was accused (probably correctly) of cheating.

Marshall Caifano responded by extorting $60k from him to make the problem go away. Ryan denied cheating and refused to pay the money. He eventually used the extortion to help the FBI get a conviction against Caifano in the early 60s.

Caifano swore vengeance against him. In October 1977, Ryan left his health club in Evansville. Turning the key in his car’s Ignition was the last thing he ever did.

Nobody was ever charged for the murder.
