AP can go f*** itself

IU stays at 13
ND jumps 4 spots

Why get so upset? IU is a traditional doormat and even if the fans think this is the NEW IU, it seems most don't believe.
Polls at this time are just noise.
As many have said, keep on winning and the polls will take care themselves.
Besides, maybe this "disrespect" will keep that chip on their shoulder!

The Notre Dame jump is really the only thing I question with the rankings.

But all in all, they don't really matter, just have to keep winning.

I kinda doubt the coaches worry much about them. But if it adds any extra motivation for the players, I hope they keep holding us down a bit.

Just so it makes more sense, we gained points on Notre Dame over where we were last week. At #13 last week, we were 61pts behind 12th place ND. This week at #13, we are only 48 pts behind ND who is now in 8th. Meaning we pulled closer to teams as opposed to falling back, even though it looks that way.

While I agree with you, here is my thinking: I could care less about the rankings, standings, playoffs right now. These last 3 home games have been an absolute blast. We could go 2-2 to end the season, and it’s the best season we’ve had since I’ve been alive. I’m enjoying the ride.

I respect what you were implying but I don't think anyone said, "Because this poll shows IU didn't move up, that means this season is no longer any fun. Get me off this ride, now!" Its a fan forum and people are going to talk. For once, being ranked high enough that playoffs are a REAL consideration, matters. So inevitably, as part of this fun ride, we get to be invested in all aspects of it, including the polls. #playoffsmatter2

The powers that be are clearly desperate to get ND in the Playoffs even though their Loss was against a Northern Illinois team that's not even in contention for winning the MAC... Their moving up over no loss teams is ridiculous...

Again, IU gained more points this week than ND did. People need to look at the rankings, we actually gained more points this week than every team in the top 17, except for Texas A&M. We caught up on the teams in front of us and we are closer to ND this week when they are at #8, than we were last week when ND was #12. Basically, if IU were to have the same 122pt gain after the MSU game, we could be as high as #7 or #8. We just need to keep winning and the rest will take care of itself.

Below are the points gain/loss for each of the top 17

1. Oregon +3
2. Georgia + 33
3. Penn State +42
4. Ohio State -29
5. Miami +41
6. Texas +19
7. Tennesse +6
8. Notre Dame +109
9. BYU +85
10. Texas A&M +224
11. Iowa State - 4
11. Clemson - 16
13. Indiana +122
14. Alabama +63
15. Boise State + 46
16. LSU -472
17. Kansas State -5

Lol. Smack dab in the middle of Alabama and Clemson. Just where everyone thought we'd be.
haha True, true. Even with that, according to the points, IU is 117pts closer to #7 Tennessee than Alabama is to Indiana. That's why we need to take into account the pts. In either case, its all meaningless but its fun to dig into when your team is up there.

MSU will be the toughest game to date. On the road, with the opponent coming off the heels of losing to their biggest rival with a nasty ending. IU not being rated in the Top 10 going into East Lansing is a good thing for both teams. IU should feel disrespected as does MSU. Win....and IU is comfortably Top 10.

Agree, if Rourke's pain-free & able to make all the throws, he'll play

After listing statistics pluses

1st – Winning percentage (tie).
2nd – Scoring offense, fourth down conversion defense.
3rd – Team passing efficiency, third down conversion percentage.
4th – Rushing defense.
5th – Total defense.
6th – Total offense, completion percentage, tackles for loss allowed.
7th – Scoring defense.
8th – Passing yards per completion.
10th – Sacks allowed.
12th – Turnovers lost (tie).
13th – Defensive touchdowns.
14th – Red zone offense, team sacks, turnover margin, punting, first down defense (tie).
18th – Fumbles lost (tie), passes had intercepted (tie).
20th – Team passing efficiency defense, punt return defense.

For now, I’d apply the Goldilocks standard to Indiana. Too hot, too cold or just right. I’d say the Hoosiers are pretty close to just right at No. 13 – though Clemson took the best spoonfuls of porridge before the Hoosiers got a chance to sit down and eat.

Classic "can't see the forest for the trees" senario. We gained more points then everyone except Texas A&M. That's not disrespectful. Beat MSU and watch us jump up.

Notre Dame benefited from A&M beating LSU.

That win helps them more, than the N Illinois loss.

If we kept and beat #17 FPI Louisville, which we would have, we'd be in the top 8, and could absorb an OSU loss and still make the playoff.
I think when the Louisville game was cancelled the decision had already been made to fire Allen and they didn’t want the new coach to be saddled with that game. Nobody saw this coming with the exception being the guy they eventually hired.

IU played nice against Northwestern, Nebraska and Washington. Certainly could have tried scoring again on each of those games’ last possessions. When/if the opportunity presents itself, hopefully starting vs MSU, then UM and PU, it’s time to pile on the points!!! Against OSU, let’s just win, baby!!
