I don't think so. I think we'll still be Top 12-ranked and seeded no lower than 11 in this week's CFP selection committee reveal.

But man, the BS and hate is still coming from the SEC shills, even after their conference's shit show last weekend. Check out what this moron from Knoxville has to say. Also, note his ridiculous comment that "Indiana's record says about as much about Western Illinois, Florida International, Charlotte, Northwestern, UCLA, Maryland, Michigan State and others [my emphasis] as it does about the Hoosiers." The "others" he fails to specifically mention are Michigan, Washington and Nebraska - - the defending national champion, last year's national championship runner-up, and a much improved Nebraska team. All, btw, now bowl-eligible.

Edit: Just realized the guy wrote this on Saturday, but there's definitely still nonsense coming from SEC country about the Hoosiers. Would love to see us matched up against an SEC team in the CFP and deliver an old-fashioned ass-whooping.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe we'll want to be ranked no lower than 10th to cover any possibility of the future B1G 12 and the G5 conf champions being ranked behind us and jumping over to boot us out.

Although we are a couple weeks early in determining seeding, it sure feels like we are closing in on playing at Penn State or at Notre Dame to open the CFP. Certainly, we have recognized lately that anything can happen so that is far from a lock at this point. Assuming nothing changes though, I think I would prefer to play at Notre Dame. They have played a soft schedule and wouldn't be as prepared for a team like Indiana and you know they would put the PSU game at night in Happy Valley.

My understanding is that five conference champs get automatic bids but only four of them get 1-4 seeding and first round byes. Those four will likely be the B1G, SEC and ACC champs, plus Boise State (Mountain West). Arizona State of the Big 12 would get an automatic bid as Big 12 champ but would likely be seeded 12th.

Finally, like you, I'd prefer South Bend over State College.

Does anyone know the ticket allocation for the first round games? If we don’t get a home game (or even if we do), how will we get tickets?
Does the committee use stadium capacity to sway their rankings?

The 4 teams that get byes are the highest ranked conference champions.
Right now, that is the winner of the #2 OSU/#1 Oregon Big Ten championship (assuming both hold serve this weekend), #6 Miami if it wins against #11 SMU, #3 Texas / #7 Georgia winner, #15 Clemson/#13 Arizona State winner according to the rankings.

It’s a normal home game, just like regular season games. Around 2,500 tickets are allotted to the visiting team. All the other tickets are made available to the season ticket holders of the home team.
IU put out a message that if we were to get a home game, season ticket holders would get the first choice to select their tickets through their accounts and seating based on priority point levels. I think I read that tickets would be in the neighborhood of $100-$200 per ticket if IU were to host. Otherwise, if on the road, you are going to be looking at aftermarket tickets at probably $1,000 per ticket. That’s a guess.

Clemson (ACC) and Arizona State (Big 12) are in different conferences. They're not playing each other for any championship.

If Arizona defeats their likely opponent (Iowa State) for the Big 12 championship, they will likely be the lowest ranked (of the five) conference champion, and they wouldn't jump up.

Yeah, that's true. So the only issue would be if we are 11 behind the ACC auto bid and the MWC/B1G 12 auto-bid is not in the top 12. Then we would be botted out. Therefore top 10 would all but guarantee us a spot. Right? Again, this is assuming nothing changes and we don't move out in the next 2 rankings but top 10 in the final rankings would equate to that?

Visiting team gets 3500 tickets. That includes band and cheer.

Yeah…my fault there. Mixed up Big 12 and ACC.

Yes, I think. I'm still hoping/praying we end up with an 8 seed and get to host a game. It's still not out of the question.

Look for where teams like Bama and Ole Miss are ranked. If IU drops down to where we're the "last at large" team, and those two teams are right behind us, that would make me nervous. Similar comment on Clemson. If they're right behind us, they could play there way over us with a quality win over South Carolina. None of those teams, like Indiana, will have any more games for evaluation. So if we're 11 or 12, and Clemson or Bama or Ole Miss are 12-14...when all the other games play out...while its unlikely, we could get bumped by a team with more losses.

Unlikely, as you've said. But sure, it would be nice to have a bit of a cushion.

Being redundant here, but if we kick Purdue's ass we should be fine.

If I was a betting man which I’m not I would bet we are on the road against an SEC team.
They will want to appease the SEC fans that say we have no business being in ahead of ANY SEC team.

I can't believe a team that was undefeated and number 7 in CFP a week ago and incurs it's only loss to the number 2 ranked team will drop more than 4 places, especially when the SEC Teams behind Them aren't setting the world on fire and are in the middle of a major train wreck.

I hate the thought of not kicking their ass in convincing fashion. Wouldn’t they like to be the ones to shatter our dream, much like the upset in ‘89 when we lost not only a bowl bid, but also AT’s chance for the Heisman. That was probably the most devastating IU Bucket loss in history.

Teams like Bama and Ole Miss who are going to be ranked behind us have no favors by playing Auburn and Miss St. If all three teams win Saturday, Bama and Ole Miss aren't going to jump IU as Miss St, Auburn, and Purdue are all bad teams.

One thing these critics never mention is the SEC only plays eight conference games. They usually load up on cream puffs. Like Tennessee’s non-conference schedule: Chattanooga, UTEP, Kent State and North Carolina St, who is 5-6 and probably no better than any conference teams we have played.

You're probably right in the end. But a Bama win, at a minimum, over Auburn would worry me if they were right behind us. Clemson's ranking, in relation to ours, is more noteworthy. Another thing to note is how big of a spread will there be, between Miami and SMU, and IU.

My guess is losses in conference championship games, as long as the games are fairly competitive, won't be nearly as penalizing as regular season losses are. So if the 2 ACC champ game teams have a large enough Gap, both will probably get in over IU.

Again, probably doesn't matter, IU is likely in with a win over Purdue. But all things to pay attention to, tonight none the less. It'll tell more of the story on what the committee is valuing heading in to championship games.

What is "conference champion"? Is it the season record or who wins the one conference championship game?

If game, can say UNLV beat Boise and get the bid? And then would the committee give Boise an at-large, bumping IU?

I like this "resume" look on the ESPN FPI. It's a computer ranking, and has us at #7 based on "Strength of Record"...which actually looks like a pretty accurate estimation of who has done what based on quality...

The conference champion is the winner of the conference championship game.

The five highest ranked conference champions get automatic bids to the CFP. As there are only 4 power conferences, that means the highest ranked Group of Five champion will also get an automatic bid. Boise State is the odds-on favorite to get that spot. However, depending on how things play out over the next several days, UNLV, Tulane and Army still have hope. Only one of those four, though, will make the field of 12.

I’m just fascinated by how quickly the narrative changed (especially among SEC shills) from “Bama and Ole Miss deserve in more than Indiana, even though they have 2 losses” last Friday to “Bama and South Carolina deserve in more than Indiana, even if they have 3 losses” yesterday

Apparently that Vandy goalpost that ended up at the bottom of the river wasn’t the only movable goalpost in the SEC

That's what I thought. So if A&M wins the SEC, someone could get bumped as UGA probably won't.

Now, could 2 ACC teams get in? Or 2 B12? I doubt it, but you never know.
