from Mississippi State? He would most likely do better (not saying much) than Woodson ever would at IU. He is 55 and moved around and landing at IU would be the icing on his cake for his career.

Well by all means if he would likely be better than Woodson AND it would be icing on his career cake to coach here? That's the definition of a no brainer hire.

Has good resume love the fact he has did it at 3 programs. It's very important we hire a guy who has done it mutiple places just needs nil and top players to put him in elite status.
I'm not up to speed on his style of play. I wouldn't be opposed to him being on a list. He's obviously won at each of his stops.
My ever changing list, as of Christmas Eve...
1. Stevens...sorry, I'm going to include him on every search list we have. And I do think there's enough that's changed since he "listened" to Dolson's pitch roughly 4 years ago, that he should be on any IU list. Not the least of which, his two kids are now in college, and one of them is playing basketball at Notre Dame. Maybe he'd be excited to coach him as a walk on at IU? But also, he has to feel like he's completed his rebuild successfully in Boston. And maybe he's now ready to finish his career, and add the biggest thing he could possibly add to his legacy...bringing IU basketball "back". Its obviously far fetched, but I honestly think its less far fetched than it was when he did consider it, 4 years ago.
2. McCollum... I'm digging in more on him. And liking what I'm finding, and seeing...A LOT. It'll be interesting to see how his Drake team finishes the season out, and if he can make some noise in March. But he won big in D2, he brought some D2 talent with him to Drake and is winning there now. Indiana should be a big step up, so not sure if he could pull a Cig and bring some Drake players to IU, and mirror that success...but obviously he's having success with "lesser talent"...and I suspect its because they know his program, and are able to execute it at a high level. Bring Stirtz with you, maybe another kid, and pair them with some national level talent...and your obvious winning program... Could be immediately successful at IU.
3. DeVries... Basically similar to everything I said about McCollum above. I wonder if DeVries son would get a 5th year if he wanted to come to IU? Are we beyond Covid year considerations? Even if not, he's beaten Gonzaga and Arizona already this year... he was obviously successful at Drake. It'll be interesting to see what he does in the B12 this year. If he makes the NCAA's, then makes some noise in the NCAAs, I think that'd be enough evidence he'd likely be successful, quickly, at IU, as well.
4. Crutchfield... D2 coach right now killing it. Team plays a very uptempo style. I gotta think that style, combined with his proven college winning programs, then combined with IU's resources, would lead to excitement and success. Obviously a risk, with no D1 experience. But again, style of play, proven success against his college peers, and IU's resources...I'd feel pretty comfortable he'd win at IU.
5. Pearl... of all the current high major coaches, he combines the style, success, proven ability to recruit, etc... If you're going after current college big fish, he'd be at the top of the list.
More realistic, current college coaches, with historical success... Matta, Beard, maybe Jans, Louisville's coach (not sure he'd leave LVille for IU?), Shaka Smart maybe. Dusty May potentially as well, but I'm not as sold on him. He's giving off Crean vibes to me.

So Tucker DeVries is playing is last year of college right now? He’s in his 4th year. Hard to keep up with the rules these days.
With 2025/26 we are back to "5 years to play 4" i.e. allowing for a redshirt year. Maybe there are still some other hardship allowances but from what I have read the class of 2025 is the last one that had the extra COVID year.
Re choice #1….a boy can dream, right?
