Sorry to disappoint you guys. My question has nothing to do with Donald Trump or Joe Biden.
If there is an expert on computer networking, I would appreciate your advice.

The current configuration is:

The server is in my study (upstairs), the reason being that my computer is there.
Most TV viewing, however, is downstairs (living room).

The signal is transferred wireless via paired antennas. Unfortunately, on certain channels (especially those my wife watches), the signal is very weak. I have added booster antennas w/o much success. I am about to go out to see whether I can find a better antenna but decided to query you guys first.

Any ideas on how to improve the signal strength?
TIA

Good Lord!

I asked a serious question. So far, the responses I've got have been trashy insults by trashy folks!
Forget that I asked the question! I will find the answers another way.

No, you asked a question with improper terms and didn't provide sufficient information to allow anyone to be able to help.

You too?
What is improper about it, that generates such trashy insults?
As I said, forget it! It was my mistake to raise a serious question to a trashy board. I should've known better. I apologize for that!
OK?

Oh my, so entitled. Shocking....

Buy a WiFi extender for each floor where primary router isn’t located. Not sure if that’s what you’re using when you say antenna booster. These have been great while working at home. This is what I use…

TP-Link AC750 Wifi Range Extender | Up to 750Mbps | Dual Band WiFi Extender, Repeater, Wifi Signal Booster, Access Point| Easy Set-Up | Extends Wifi to Smart Home & Alexa Devices (RE200) Amazon product ASIN B00NR2VMNC

Are you just trolling us here? Your question makes absolutely no sense. I cannot even figure out what you are asking, other than your wife has trouble watching certain TV channels.

My questions were not a joke. I'm actually trying to help.

I don't see a reason to mock people with bad computer skills.

I manage a good sized IT department with a staff, big budget, and lots of high tech equipment with bright lights that flicker and flash. I know shit. But I have no idea what meridian is asking here. Call the (cable/satellite) provider. That's what normal old people do. Except my mom. She calls me. And I tell her to call them.

Come on... the guy ask a question to see if anyone could help. Twenty02 was the only one trying to help. If you don't understand what he's asking then ask questions to clarify.

come on, the guy asks questions frequently about his technology shortcomings. It’s clear he doesn’t even try to do his own problem solving so why should we?

You are now questioning the basis for about 1/3 of the internet, and the largest non-porn part.

To me it sounds like he tried because he said he added a booster. I have friends that wouldn't even have an idea where to start (I'm not saying that about the poster) so they just throw up their hands. There are things that you and I would have no idea where to even start... I've been in that situation before and someone gave me a pointer and got me started.

What I've found in most cases is that I know more than they do... they start giving me a bunch of crap because they have standard answers for most questions. If your question isn't on the list they'll answer another question... irritates the hell out of me. I sent Garmin a question a while back and all I got was responses telling me how things work... never could get them to answer MY question on WHY something was happening. I already knew how the GPS worked... I've used it for years but it started doing something strange and that was what my question pertained to.

That's true but I'd like to think that I can ask a legitimate question and get people's input. There's probably a lot of knowledge on here and I like to take advantage of other people's experiences.
The problem is, like my mom, he's not asking the question, or providing any sort of details, that could possibly lead to any knowledgeable response. He might as well have said, "My stuff isn't working well, what should I do?" The generic comments about "paired antennas" are meaningless, since paired antennas aren't any sort of actual technology. Basically he said, "some of my channels are fuzzy."

My guess:

Home gateway/router is upstairs. Like U-Verse (maybe it is U-Verse) the additional TV receivers are connected via wi-fi. They are having trouble getting the signal. I have no idea why only some channels would be affected though in this configuration.

I'm not sure the wi-fi boosters help with the add'l TV receivers. I could be wrong though. I also suspect OP's study is at one end of the house and the affected TV is at the other end. He should move the gateway/router centrally.

My knowledge is likely exhausted given the available info.

The mention of computer and server implies streaming, antenna implies over the air. If the problem is with over the air channels, one can take the tv to where the antenna comes into the house and see if the problem continues. If so, it is an issue with the outdoor antenna. If not, it is with however the signal is getting downstairs.

I'm having similar issues. Happens only with a couple of channels after my wife goes to bed. Not sure if it's a paired antenna issue or if my server's hard drive is full. Audio is fine BTW. I actually need to turn the volume down.

By “server” do you mean “router” or “modem”? Do you have cable, dsl, or fiber?

I’m assuming you mean router because of the mention of antennas. Your router should be at the most centrally located position possible, with range extenders on the floor directly above/below as needed.

IT is like black magic anyway. I still don’t know how a photo taken with my phone ends up on my computer or why my car goes apeshit if I drift out of my lane. I just know how HVAC works.

This actually raises an important issue. The electronic phones, computer, cable TV, TV streaming products, etc. are extremely confusing to many folks - especially elderly. When my mom passed in April, she was not able to use any of them.

The constant barrage of updates and changes and spam and scams made it impossible for her to know what to open and read, or avoid. "User friendly" has died - in fact, they avoid it. You need a BS to know how to use the basic products anymore.

Windows can do 4,500 things - but 4,490 are irrelevant to all but a very few users.

And the scam of "auto-pay" and "auto-renewal" of auto-pay makes it all worse.

Its like buying a car but being told you need to go elsewhere for the steering wheel, and they aren't responsible for making sure it works - they just "sell "it. And after 3 years, they won't service the stuff anymore.

And they sell all your personal data and you get 20 calls each day to the point where you can't just conduct your own business. You home is no longer your castle. They invade constantly.

And of course Bill Gates never went to jail for having his Windows 10 downloaded against the will of the customer and having it literally destroy the consumer's ability to use their computer again.

I recently was told by HP that I could no longer use a home e-mail that I have used since DAY 1 (think "business goodwill") to receive faxes and scanned documents because they had changed their security software and most third party e-mail providers would not provide them the security information about the e-mail so they could "set it up". Had to create a new e-mail - a new portal of e-abuse.

I can't wait until China turns it all off and we go back to actual customer service.

(And while I'm on a rant - if you open your restaurant these days KNOWING you will provide shitty service and expecting me to "show up - shut up - accept shitty service - pay more for it - and tip bigger" because nobody wants to work for you after getting free money with their masks, don't expect my patronage. I literally risked death to buy take out from you during the shut downs - run your business or don't - but I'm DONE with your excuses. Good business people will figure it out. I can wait.

AND. .... I'm sitting here waiting on a floor installer taking unsolicited phone calls. The floor work was supposed to COMPLETED in 1 day. One small room. Showed up late yesterday - screwed up MY schedule, not his. First thing. - HIS contract with the seller did not include the $2 per square foot extra to remove a layer of parquet under the hardwood. Wouldn't even unload until there was an agreement with the seller. Spent most of the day on the phone - supposed to return today at 9:00, and so I have to re-arrange MY schedule - again. But not here yet. And if I chew his ass for inconviencing ME - THE CUSTOMER - I'm the bad guy.

Whew.)

You can afford a car with modern safety features?
