American Airlines plane crash

There was a former chopper pilot on either Newsmax or Fox who in an aside (while they were discussing NVG use) mentioned they he had a "near miss" with a landing aircraft at Reagan because he mistook their lights as ground background lights (they basically blended into the background) ...

It's possible that this happens more often than is publicly reported...

It is the SECOND PILOT, not in command, aka co-pilot, who hasn't been identified yet, but rumors are was female.

I couldn’t tell you the first thing about flying a Blackhawk Helicopter, or any helicopter. I also couldn’t tell you what military protocol is for these situations.

Nor have I seen any information about who was doing what and when.

But I can tell you that, for the aircraft I’ve flown, Pilot in Command is not the same thing as Pilot in Control.

I’m sure a whole, whole lot happens that isn’t publicly reported - maybe especially in that airspace (which is, or is at least very near, the most restricted airspace in the world).

They'll learn who was actually flying the helicopter by who has the severely broken thumb when they recover the other two military personnel.

Apologies if anyone related to the crew is reading this but that's one of the ways they actually determine who was in control of the helicopter...
